so this started out simple enough.. I traded dejango for this 48 olds wagon (woodie) and I have been slowly makin it mine. I celebrated my 1 year anniversary with the car in february (i think.

then somewhere along the way I decided that I would start making louvers.. and it seems that my buddy tokyo has taken a liking to my louver press as well.. (insert gay love ballad here!)

anyhow we have just about exhausted our louver press abilities on the engine commpartment. now its time to get serious about the wood in this wagon...

first photo of the overall project.. this wagon will have a 1x1 square tube framework that the wood will attach to

lastly a crappy shot of my panel. this extends from the lower portion of the firewall to the frame and is louvered with "innies" to allow hot air to escape...

Is the Woodie Wagon for towing the Bubble Top Car?

Hey Jeff, it looks bitchin so far. Glad to see it's getting closer to being finished. Are you going hide the metal frame inside with wood too?

    chad..

you got the idea. I figure 99% of the steel can be hidden by the wood.. the metal parts that can't be hidden will get paint to blend with their surroundings.

I am planning to make the body "unitized" whereby certain parts of the body can be removed from the steel framework easily..

all this for a surf wagon..

Are you going to build steel door frames too and clad them with wood?

When do you think it will be roadworthy?

Sawzall if you need closeup shots of the wood on our 40 Ford Woody just let me know. I can get you photos of any of the joints and what not. It may come in pretty handy down the line. The word work is is quite a project to tackle.

Man that looks like it is going to be a shit load of work!
What kind of wood are you going to use?

  30. Sorry to detract from the topic, but for explaination....

Harlen was a 'in-ya-face' HAMBer dude (Think GERM, but with a closed fist coming at ya face) who had some open minded ideas, skilled in Engineering TECH theory, willing to fabricate stuff to stand behind his ideas.

Not everyones friend, but whenever he was 'straight' his ideas were challenging.

Other than the 'debates' he was involved in (like fuel on a fire), his other most notable contribution to the HAMB were HAMMERED photo chops.

Harlen had BIG (and unique)style, BIG attitude, and BIG commitment.

I wish him well whatever he's doing, just trust he's still alive........

    Sorry, just remenising (sp?).

In Australia, we call these 'coupe Utes' (although ours were all steel).

    Cheers,
