I have a buddy who as a great trim carpenter. He and I have worked on high end Custom Home projects together for nearly 10 years. He has told me would love to build a Woody sometime. Im a big surf rod fan and am thinking of getting a project started. I picture a fenderd '29 delivery type ... He was thinking more of a early fifties wagon. I haven't 'had that moment of revelation yet where I know what I want. Any suggestions, pics or links? Thanks
heres a link , theres more woodies than you can shake a stick at.. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=240090&highlight=woodies heres a pic i took at a show , im not sure about the year..
Depending on your woodworking skills you could start with something like this.. or this. Even Boyd had to start somewhere.. WOW! Just messin' with ya! Apparently these people had zero skill and even less taste. Being a finish carpenter myself I just wonder what some people are thinking when they do shit like this.
Here's a model from the '60's... but not really the vibe I'm looking for http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=416253&stc=1&d=1203783162

I think I like the '29 - '30 truck, with a bit of a tiki theme.. like bamboo interior trim, thatch http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=416282&stc=1&d=1203785231 http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=416283&stc=1&d=1203785231
I've spent many hours looking at the various sites that have woodies on them. This is the the best site I've found. http://public.fotki.com/wackydave/woodies/ I don't think there is a woodie in CA that Dave Lindsey hasn't shot. If you have looked at all the different woodie shows, don't miss more woodies in the cruises section. Especialy the beach type cruses. Then there are even more in the museum section. Just an outstanding site. Thanks Dave.
Wow! What a photo site.... It will take me days to look at all those pics... Dave even spinkles in a few honeypie shots... looks like Dave's a butt man! Thanks A100...

Woodguy, you really carved out some nice rides. Copperwood is my favorite woodie. Are most of the woodies you show phantons?
