It was like Christmas when I got hom from work today. One LARGE box and a smaller one waiting for me. I couldn't open them up fast enough. Boy was I plesently surprised at the quality of Large Marge's dash and the pieces. You might remember from my summer adventure story that Large Marge is the '47 Olds that Tinbender owns. He's parting her out and plans on using the front end as an art project inside his place, I get the deck lid for an awning for my side door, and the actual doors themselves he's making shelved wall hangings. Anyway, I saw 1badnov's thread not too long ago and fell in LOVE with the idea of his dash bar. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=395907&highlight=dash+bar&showall=1 I've got a really cool tiki themed bar already so I thought I could use the idea and make myself a kitchen ISLAND! I shared this idea with Tinbender and right away he offered up Large Marge's dash. He bartered cookies outta me. He's such a tough negotiator. The radio is there. and all kinds of extra parts Including the temp controler that will actually go on Big Olds in the stock location to fill the hole that I was going to put the wiper control thru but since I've never done that, and I probably never will, I'll use this piece to fill that hole. I'm going to use the small chromed headlight bezel on Big Olds since his was missing I plan on using three Craftsman toolboxs side by side with the functional drawers as the base and that will be counter height. The other side will be a step up and bar height with stools and the dash will be on that side. I'd also like to thank 1badnov for shaing his idea with his friends here on the HAMB. I'm so excited to get started. I just wanted to thank Eric AKA Tinbender for sending everything along. Your a real sweetheart and I appreciate everything you do for me. I see more cookies in your future. I'll post photos once done.
Very cool idea! you got to show the finished product! I just bought this for my living room! Also love the way you use the craftsman tool boxes! [by the way, it's a resin flathead!]
How many square feet of hardwood flooring you need for that kitchen? We could arrange a Hamb relay to get it over to you. Not car related except nearly every Hamber in the world has stayed at your place during Autorama and we want them walking on nice floors!
RIP Large Marge. (rest in pieces!) I'm happy some parts get to go to you Denise! I know Marge would have wanted it that way! It's going to be a fun project You know I'd do anything to taste your cookies...again
