Thats a WC Power Wagon only produced from 41-42. Even the rear taillights are the standard from 41-45. Restored this truck can fetch a good chunk of change. Also if you have never ridden in a power wagon like this you are in for a treat. Stiff and slow. These will pull stumps out of the ground. Buy it, get it running and drive it. These are work trucks and will be long after you are dead.
The WC trucks were sold initially to civilians until the start of WWII, then they were produced for the military, forestry, and farm use through the war. Afterwards, there were only three major styling changes of any consideration from 1945 until 1972, and that being mostly radiator shell and cab-related. The M-series trucks are strictly mil-spec trucks, and are different. W = Dodge-speak for 4x4 (Power Wagon) C = Civilian M = Military I noticed a Colorado tag on the front and a Montana tag on the rear.
Why would you need to turn it upside down??? Just turning it from back to front will effectively put the pinion on the opposite side and allow the front axle to turn in the same direction as the rear. Unless the front and rear driveshafts turn in different directions when the transfercase is locked in....???? Very cool truck and looks to be in great shape. What a find!
Me neither just thought ya might get some thought from it. It was looking good till he threw the .50's and bomber touch to it.
Buy it up before s**** prices go up. Also mention to him you are concerned with the shape it is in and worried about parts and see if he will throw in the parts truck for free.
What you have is a 41 dodge 1/2 ton wc. The wc stands for" weapons carrier", why they called it a weapons carrier, with a 6 foot bed i'll never know, but looks to be in good shape, if your lookin for some other kind a work truck, lemme know, i got a few i'd trade ya for it.or i'll sell ya a front diff if i have one.
