Hot Rods Working on a new project.

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Bruce Fischer, Jul 29, 2018.

  1. Hi guys.Sorry I haven't posted for a while but I am back. Working on another station wagon project. As most of my finds this one was sitting a while. I bought it running rough and with no brakes. The flat bed couldn't get up our mountain drive way and the wagon had a flat tire and wouldn't hold air. So I drove it up the drive way and started down to the shop. The wagon started gaining speed {since my shop is down hill from our cabin} and I went to hit the e brake to slow her down but it didn't. I was having flash backs about when I had the 56 Buick wagon and I couldn't stop it and it took out the back wall in my shop. Luckly the flat tire slowed the wagon down and it stopped about a foot from the back wall. LOL. I got her running good with a major tune up and had to replace the water pump due to sitting and while I had it apart I replaced the original fuel pump so I wouldn't have to tear every thing back off to get in there. I also had to replace the brake propotion brake valve along with all the brake lines and 2 frozen front brake calipers . T he body is straight with no rust or rot. I am changing the leaky valve covers on it now and now the alt is howling so I will have to replace that too.She is stripped down and ready for paint. Robert was given a second chance at life. He is back in Flordia and back at work. That shows God can work wonders. Thanks for all your prayers and you all take care. Bruce.

    Glad Robert is doing well.
Due to the reoccurring theme with brakes , maybe you should invest in an anchor to be deployed from the rear bumper!!LOL;):D

Great news on Robert! I guess you learned that when the brakes are frozen, the e brake usually won't work either!
Hey, what wagon? I don't see a wagon.

  13. He's talking about disc brakes and proportioning valves. Maybe it's not HAMB friendly.

Super great news on Robert's recovery.

Might be able to save you some money if the howl is a slipping belt. Check and set the alternator belt tension (and maybe a new belt if that one is worn). Put a battery charger on the battery and get a full charge. With a little luck, the belt will not slip.

  26. Well, if it's a wagon with factory discs in the front, it's OT..... but one pic wouldn't hurt... LOL!
