Let me break it down for ya one more time. No one here gives two shits what you do, no one here is anti anything. I think it's great that you want to get out in the garage and do something.

We do, however, prefer to discuss traditional hotrods on this board.

Your responses in dealing with this situation are truly stupid. if you want to hang out and learn a thing or two (we could all stand to learn, hey?) feel free. Maybe lurk around and get a feel for the place before posting, it'll help ya out.

But if you can't come up with anything more constructive than your last post there, you're queer for sheep and you should leave.

Build whatever,,then when it's done ,,worry abouy what to call it..If you set out to build a "insert the trend of the day here" then you have done nothing more than follow the herd.

I just dont get investing all that time and effort for a highly questionable end result. Even if the thing could be built for 0 dollars.

If I was ( I'm not) going to play with VWs for a hot rod , I'd take 2 bugs & split them right in the center & put two front halves back to back & fabricate the rest. You would be amazed at how much that would look like a Cord sedan.
I had to build a hot wheel sized Cord sedan once & used two vws to do it --looked dam nice-- as most people know the Cord had the same roof line front & rear .

I've got a lot more respect for a guy that has the knowledge and ability to hot rod a VW, than a guy who bench races everyone elses cars on the internet.

Think of it this way...there are specific boards for Camaros...you cant go posting about VW's on there even if you put a "Camaro" engine in it. Then there are boards about bigger subjects...let say Chevrolets...think they want you blabbin on about your chopped and hacked up VW roadster? Now the HAMB...it covers even a wider range of subjects...Ryan spells it out in the guidelines in the intro forum...just because its homebuilt and you've got the gusto to make it happen doesnt mean the majority gives a crap about it. The things that really get attention here are well crafted pieces of work...not drag the old car to the garage and bang on it with a hammer for a few days. Seems everyone is a Hot Rodder these days....only cause they saw it on T.V. or online...I got started with the 1989 Hangin Dice Nationals...I was a mere 10 years old then...but seeing these cars first hand gave me the ability to understand them...long before the big boom of "rodz" came about. All of you who feel the need to get shitty about how the true members on this board feel...do yourselves a favor and stop by some of the other Hot Rod boards....you will probably feel more welcome there since that seems to matter so much.

There is a Texas guy who built what you are describing. he runs a 4 banger and is at the Kontinentals day of the drags every year. The first time i saw it it took me a good long while to recognize it was a vw. I was looking through my pictures in hopes of sharing but i couldn't find it.

...some newbies need to practice at masturbating too, but I don't want to hear about it here...practice on your own, if it turns out good...post it...if not...you wouldn't want anyone to see your failure...

VW roadsters are NOT the subject of this board. I'm not sure this guy has been involved with forums long enough to realize the difference. Or the cost to the owner of wasting all this bandwidth filling this guy in. Based on his after the fact intro he sounds like someone with more experience than most. But just needs an explanation of what governs forums. Rather than pissing off and alienating a possible member why not lock the thread and have the moderator explain it to him.

Just 'cause you don't quite fully understand the internet - doesn't make you a shitty hot rod builder. Most great builders probably aren't that internet savvy. Been to busy since the 40's or 50's building cars.

Lock this thread moderator. But don't alienate him. Send him a short explanation of the cost involved in the subject matter chosen to speak about here.

Look, I get it, I get it. Pre-64. Done. I will stick around, because I have learned a lot and had a lot refreshed since lurking around. And yeah, I think I will have to do something with the RangeRod now just because I probably more of a hardnose than most...(LOL)

Let me say two more things on this topic:

    1) 3W said "... some newbies need to practice at masturbating too...". Well I generally don't stoop, but dude, I have 6 kids, how bout you?

    2) 3W also said that if something turns out like crap don't post it. I disagree with you dude. You need to be secure enough with yourself to talk about failures. Maybe someone else could learn from them. And don't ever underestimate the ability of something simple to you not helping anyone else. Not everyone is obviously at the same level. And as many rods as you may have built already, or no matter how good you are (I am sure you have done a great job on yours - show us a pic), don't shut down completely dude, cause you never know when someone may say something that just might spark some other thought or idea in your own head.

    OK, enough psychology... Later

well said Bug, uh oh, is that too close to a Vdub association?;) (crap! I had use one of those stupid emote icons...)

  20. V dubs are just goofy but if I was bored and one was in my back yard, I'd do something with it too.

Oh and hey Seymour, I love rockabilly, I love punkabilly too.. (The Rev kicks fuckin ass!) Ya know what else? The 'rat rod' theme is pretty cool.. I like it. Also you really can't give someone shit for not being able to dump a lot of money into their HOBBY. I've always felt the same way as you on your posts until now.. sorry dude but on this one you'll just have to suck it! :D

Bugman, me personally I do nothing but work in my shop and fuck around on the internet. Those are my hobbies. Who made you an internet nazi? Some people on here more than others, some people have a more flexible schedule, so fuckin what? On this one.. yeah.. you guessed it, you're gonna have to suck it!

You're some of my favorite members on here. Which is why this post makes me laugh so fuckin much. :p

So.. ..build it! If a V dub is what you wanna fuck with, build something out of it. Make a fuckin lawnmower or a go kart, whatever, doesn't matter because it gives you an excuse to use your tools and creativity, enjoy it.. just have fun doing it.

I appreciate hands-on rodder fabricators, and I'm all for the practice thing, but why not buy a model A cowl for 100 bucks, make or scrounge up the rest of the body, like maybe a homemade RPU, weld up a frame with some 2x4 rectangular tubing, grab the axles from someone streetrodding an old ford ,and have something when you're done? It would sure be easier to get your money out of it when you're done playing with it.

  23.

LMAO Shut up this isn't brokeback mountain! :D

  24. Hey 31/37 if you got a 100 model a cowl sign me up!!! I still don't really know what traditional means,,, don't really care either, the stuff I've posted and shown on here hasn't gotten me flamed too bad so I guess it's traditional??? Personally, I'd rather see someone do something different, bucks down and creative than see somone copy something that was built in 1940,50, 60 whatever. If you ask me, I'd say I'm similar in mindset to the guys who originally built the "traditional" cars than many of the people on this board. They built the cars to showcase their ideas, their skills, and not to please the masses, they built cars how they wanted them, to go fast and piss people off!! I welcome different ideas, and I respect and admire so much of the talent and new ideas on here, I say build whatever you want, and be proud of it, learn from it, and do it again. Don't post about Japanese cars or mini trucks.

I don't think this thread will last another day before it gets locked..... LOL
