For those of you that love this particular style of gasser we may not have to wait too long for the next rendition. I had thought earlier today that I had already witnessed a High Roller 55 Chevy that went through BJ a few years ago but I was trying to get some work done and thought maybe senility was setting in. I googled it just a few minutes ago and there was another that went through BJ Las Vegas in 2014-went for pretty much the same money. Stance is not quite as good as the Puddin car but it does have the moon tank up front. The tires though do a good job of really adding to the effect. It was hand painted by the same artist (who does appear to have some talent for sure) but maybe the third such High Roller gasser will hit it out of the park. I doubt it, but it does give us something to look forward to. If I knew how to post the BJ Las Vegas sale I would. th.jpg

When Dobbertons Pontiac J2000 showed up, everyone knew Pro Street was done...this is another one of those moments.

This reminds me of the debacle with a misrepresented Coddington car that Dave Kindig sold at BJ and took back.

Thankfully, the internet makes it easier to find out about fraud. IMO, it's not a bad deal for $27K. A 55 HT, that runs and drives. Get rid of the shit all over the paint, and lower it down a foot, and it could be a decent car.

  10. What the HELL is that? Did Gas Monkey build it?:confused:o_Oo_O

Shakey copyright is a complex thing. Some respect it some don't. Most of the time most things we do can be copied and will be even if its protected.

As an artist I have had stuff appear that was influenced by my artwork. In some ways its a form of flattery. But I've seen some really lousy interpretations of it too. I just let it go as I'm sure you have. You more or less have to as its generally a huge hassle to do something about it.

With the hot wheels approach to that car it is obvious there is little interest to the period the Hamb represents or the site itself or to video or any coverage of your car.

The builder may have knew of your ride and took the I don't giva 'f' if there's another one approach or they didn't even know. Thats entirely possible. There are many variables here. They probably sourced ten vehicles and shuffled the cards and voila...Barf...o_O

I know for you its stings. When it happens to me I know it makes me think a little in the gut depending on how it was used.

There is only one Shakey Puddin...;)

Did it come with a pair of high heels, a tube of lipstick and a pink feather boa to complete the look? Liberace and Charles Nelson Reilly would be proud.

Shakey, I'd be pi--ed. Trying to add your provenance to that car to help it sell for more $$$ and to cause kids to have nightmares thinking your car turned into this...
That is so sad. Someone trying to be cool and trendy without having a clue. 27K selling price, the idea obviously didn't work out for them. I got twice that for this 56 hardtop last year at auction, simple street car but I feel tasteful, I'm sure it cost much less to build. What's the old saying, less is more?
Actually, might not be that bad a car, might be an easy fix. Change the wheels (obviously) get rid of that hokey lettering, little rework on the suspension and it could be a pretty neat little ride.
FWIW Barrett-Jackson does not write the vehicle descriptions, they just print what the consignor sends them and they have a disclaimer stating as such in the bidder packet (a buyer beware statement). Only thing they really check for as far as fraud goes is VIN related unless it's a really blatant misrepresentation.

Yeah! That is a real gasser look--NOT A stock 55 post with the front bumper removed and some hokey graphics, the mandatory Moon tank ('cept it appears to be one of the Speedway Motors Chinese deals) and some shiny wheels. The only thing that saves this from being as bad as the bogus "Shakey Pudding" is that the wheels are not dead ugly.
"Stance is not as good as the Puddin car"--Give me a break. That is one of the things that make the bogus Puddin so bad. Strip the chrome "airplane" off the hood along with the rest of the factory badging, make the engine look period correct and lose the whitewalls and it would be a little closer to what the lower class gas cars looked like back in the day. As it is now it is just a circus car like the bogus Shakey Puddin.

Rooman, you miss my sarcasm. I was with a team that ran gas back in the 60s and own several cars (BM/SP, B/A B/G, B/MP) that ran back in the 60s. Both cars are a mess in my estimation.

Rooman that is OK. I have spent a lifetime of practicing tact in one form or another which keeps me at times from just calling a shitbox a shitbox. I try to give some of the new "gasser fad" a pass as I can understand why they want to emulate a great era. Thank God I lived through it and have great memories instead of some of the pure crap that is being put out as representative today.

My question is: Is the 55 in the pass time clip a "Belair" or not. Not all Tri-Five Chevys are "Belairs" just like not all Tri-Five Station wagons are "Nomads"

I don't know if it ever got sorted out but he was running something like 15s on the e-town 1/4 back when car was first built. He also waited until place was almost empty to try and run it.

After seeing pictures of the aborted 55 chevy, I'm waiting to see a number of clowns coming out of it.

  23. That abortion of a 55 picture just melted my face like the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark. 40 bucks worth of spray can primer and some old slot mags would change the whole car. It would still be ridiculous but at least look better.

How the hell can you look in the mirror, see this and think 'yep, that's the look I'm going for'?

  29. I watched a few minutes of the BJ circus on TV once. The whole fiasco just looks like a higher dollar version of Gas Monkey nonsense. Wouldn't surprise me if they tried to pass a Cessna off as Air Force One.
