Took the GF to see the World of Wheels show yesterday, will post pics later. Was wondering who else went. Besides the one and only Nomad there, I wasn't feeling it and left with no hard-on. It was as if everyone was there to show how much money they spent on their cars, but didn't actually CARE about the rides they had, just the potential money they could make off of them. The few folks I talked to were very proud of the accomplishments, but it was obvious that they would never drive what they had built, including some of the scion geeks that were there. Speaking of which: This was my first "show" in a long time; are there always brand new imports and domestics with dealership plates in attendance at these things? Overall, I left pretty dissapointed despite the nice paint jobs. I had more fun people watching all the mullets walking around with their crack-whore thin, barely covered fake-breasted, over-cooked hotdog complected, denim-jacket wearing womens... Then again, I was the only black-guy wearing a Ducati shirt in that mofo and plenty of thug wannabes that I was pretty funny looking too
I've been to a few W.O.W. shows and had seen the commercials for this one. Turns out I found all kinds of other stuff to do this weekend and it was Sunday evening before I even thought about it.
I thought the show sucked this year. I hated the location and the car count seemed low. I really don't plan on going back next year. A couple of nice 32's though...
Yeah...that Scion set up was bomb...hehehe. Just kidding, but really...I took more pics of my two kids with Spongebob & Patrick than I did of the cars this year. There were some nice cars there, but not the normal turnout. I did get Milner's autograph & shook his hand too. That was my highlight besides my kids having a ball. Carl Hagan
Carl, That's where you where this weekend! I went Friday and was very disappointed. Why would I pay $15 for me and $5 for my son to get in and see two whole rows of Scions, new vettes and muscule cars? I usually give a lot of grace since I'm training my youngest to like and appreciate cars, but this was a waste if time and money. The best thing I got out of it was a day off work, time spent with my son and a cool '40 Ford deluxe coupe hotwheel... r
it wasn't even at bartle. the american royal just isn't right for "world" of wheels, didn't waste my money. instead i wasted money on a beater pickup, but i digress.
Didn't go. I have not attended in a WOW LONG time. Always end up feeling like I could have done better buying a couple of Hot Rod mags. I spent the weekend doing some letterpress for a resume package that I am going to start sending out.
Last time I went Mr Roth was still alive. Come to think of it it was the last time we saw each other, hmmmn. Its not a bad show as a rule, if that's your bag. I had other things to do and I suppose that the cash out lay was also a deterent. But I'm sorry you didn't get to see me maybe next time.
Last time i went to a world of wheels was awhile ago got Roth's signature on a R.F sticker and that was my highlight of that otherwise it sucked fuck that I'm not paying that much to see the same cars I see at local cruise nights for free maybe thats why they didn't hold one in St.Louis this year.
I thought the wanna be "rat rod" with the fake velocity stacks likely glued to a chromed piece of tin to cover the air cleaner on a ho hum small block was kind of funny. The Blown deuce was interesting, until I realized it was plastic.
I went as I worked on my 47 in the morning and then didnt have time to go to the swap meet. It was my first "big" show since moving to KC. It was ok - better than staying at home - but I wont rush out to next years one. Apart from the all the scions, I did notice a lot of blue denim bib overalls - it might be something I will learn about KC ? I just put some photo album software on my website, which I dont like, but in the meantime I will leave it there with world of wheels pics. Its all the pics I took, so some are not "HAMB" cars - not that was many there anyways. That fake velocity stack pickup is in there. It is amusing! http://www.displacedkiwi.com/other/photo_album cheers ricki
Kiwi, not sure when you went but I did not see any bib overhauls. Anyway, I just noticed the fake velocity stack car lacks a Balancer, and it even looks a little like a crank. I wonder if it even runs?
These ones weren't bad ^ yes it's the one from American Graffiti ^ would love to find one of these duel coil ingnition setups
I agree! The show was pathetic as is most of the indoor shows. However, I will agree that there were a couple of nice '32 Fords and it was cool to see the Jackman Brothers coupe, which was one of the top 75. For the most part the show was filled with a ton of junk and I hope I never let myself attend that event again. I am looking forward to Detroit though.
