I picked this up at Hershey today. I thought it was just too cool and had to have it. Looks like a tire with wings to me. Does any body know what it was off of. It's not for sale!!!! Thanks Clark
That might be an early Packard, since Packards had a winged man holding a tire out in front of him in the late 30s. I'm curious now. That thing is cool.
Yup, that's pretty darn cool, Clark. I don't think it's a Mercury, because it was Mercury himself holding the wheel. It could be a really early Chysler "Wheel of Progress," which was around the time of the Airflows. More likely, it's a J C Whitney original fro the fifties. Is it pot metal? Regardless, it's very cool.
By the way, I hate you. I'm only four hours away from Hershey, but I have a three month old baby that still feeds every three or four hours, which means I can't be at the greatest swap meet ever. And it's nice weather for once. (I don't hate you, I'm just jealous.) --Matt
I spent 2 days at Hershey, and didn't find a*****ing thing. Hung out with Jdee, and crew,at the Grain-It hospitality suite. And met a couple guys from the Metalshapers board. When I saw the So What truck in the parking lot,I knew all the good***** was gone.
I don't know what it's from..., and it wouldn't look good on anything you've got..., but if you gave it to me I could weld it on top of my toolbox or "sumpun"!! "WINGNUTZ"
Come on ....some one should have seen this before. Unk... you can't tell me you didn't leave there with out a truckload of stuff. I went 4 days and left with a pile each day. Hell I walked away from a 34 Ford grill for $300. I stuck to buyin the cheap stuff. Got a 29 A grill in good shape for $10. It will look good on the shop wall untill I have a need for it. Clark
so what, you get it from that guy selling a BILLION hood ordiments????? I got a couple nice Bumber Guards for the 47 for 10 bucks.... Nice 41 chevy hood ordiment -new chrome for 12 bucks!!!!!!
I HAVE seen that before. Thinking late 20's Chrysler (check out the trim on the Chrysler Building) but haven't found it yet. Or Buick?
One of the guys thought it might be a Goodyear aftermarket thing. Do you think it's possible? Slowlearner....do you have any pics of the Chrysler building? If it was Chrysler you would think there would have been more at Hershey. Hershey is huge and I saw a lot of ornaments but this one struck me. Clark

Looked thru the hood ornament sites and didn't find any Packard with that ornament. My guess is it's after market.
I looked through the hood ornament sites too with no luck. It seems to be solid stainless. It's not plated. Clark
[ QUOTE ] but the mirror thermometer thing is all mine..... [/ QUOTE ] I have two really nice thermometer mirrors..... (They are not for sale though ) hehehe
Link I have a too too.......I mean I have two different thermometer mirrors. I think Sawzall has a couple more than I do but he DOESN'T have one like my new one..... Clark

Here's the Chrysler Building, admittedly, a period long shot, but I couldn't resist the shot with the original "Queen E". The Chrysler is the tall (Balinese) thing on the left. A true wonder of the world. Here's the Rad Cap details architecural details I was talking about: and After all that, I'm stumped so far on your cap. NOT Chrysler, I'll keep pondering. KNOW I've seen it somewhere!
Looks like we have the same taste. I took this shot with my camera at the PileUp but you beat me to the post by about 20 minutes. I'm posting mine anyway
