Just grab the cat and give a good brisk petting! Clean hands and a pissed off cat, 2 wins!

  3. Not a single person mentioned cleaning solvent ... I guess when it hit 12 bucks a gallon we all had to improvise. ... in SoCal we had these places called "Standard Brands" .... take in your own gallon glass jug and they would fill it up out of a 55 gallon barrel for 17 cents ...... traditional!

  4. Dish soap and sugar.

If you use an industrial barrier cream and work it in to your skin and under your nails before you start dirt will not get ingrained.

Yep... me too! Tide laundry detergent ( powder type) works great! I tried using the nitrile gloves, but when I opened the box of em, they were all left hands:rolleyes: ...robber

the more i work the tougher my hands become, then the dirt doesn't stick and washes off easy.

hey, that's my idea, but you have to explain it. think about this... pick any hand cleaner listed here and scrub away before lunch. go in the house to make a sammich and when you get done there will be a greasy fingerprint on the cheese.

    I use grated Sharp Cheddar.

I work in a greasy oily machine shop environment. We use a soap called Task EF by Certified works great and it has hand conditioner in it so my hands stay baby butt smooth (not) lol.

  11. You must just like stickin' your fingers in the holes. :D

  12. this works, unless what's on your hands is sticky and then your hands look like chubacka's.

if my hands get real greasy ill use thinner before i walk to the house and dawn dishsoap when i get in the house.that combo works good but you better not have any open cuts or sores cause you will use profanity,if they arent to bad i just use the dawn.

I have a friend who worked 37 years in the transmission repair biz. Daily exposure to trans fluid, car cleaner, brake cleaner, Varsol, and all sorts of 'home remedy' hand cleaners.

One day his hands 'kicked over' and reacted badly to all the chemicals. His dermatologist told him he had 'hardly any layers' of skin left on his hands. Now, when he does work, he has nitrile gloves on and can only do it for a couple hours.

So....for all the guys who use Tide, solvents, gasoline, etc. I can't imagine why you'd want to treat yourself that way...

I used to keep a bucket of beach sand mixed with Dawn Dish Soap in the garage, for when the hands got really dirty and grimey. Even gets the crud out from under the fingernails. Now, I wear nitrile gloves as much as possible, or even "fish handling gloves". I also use those sheets of fibrous pot scrubbers with Dawn Dish Soap. Any amount of dirt, grime, grease, rust, etc. gets on my hands, and the skin cracks, so i try and keep them clean to avoid that; nothing's more painful than when the skin cracks, starts to heal, then you wack em', and they split even more. 18. That's for chicken shits!

  19. Cleaning hands? Isn't that what the wire wheel on the bench grinder is for?

  20. Ooooo...........

You have no idea how much that hurts when you're using the twisted/braided wire wheel like I do.

On the other side, those handcleaners that contain pumace can damage your mechanical parts. The pumace is an abrasive and collects in shop rags which might be used to clean or wipe parts and contaminate them I never buy handcleaner with pumace because of that.

  25. Gloves.
I'm a Svc. Advisor at a dealership and the smart techs all use gloves. Automotive chemicals are BAD FOR YOU! There are lots of different styles, thicknesses, colors and prices. If Doctors can perform surgery with gloves on, nuts and bolts shouldn't be too hard to handle.

My problem is gloves rip and you get the crap on your hands anyways.
I mix lava soap and dawn. Works fairly well.

  28. A few years ago I bought a bar of Cra-Z Soap at Big Lots and haven't seen it around this area since.

Wish I'd stocked up on a few bars. Cleans good, rinses quick and doesn't dry out your skin. Looks like it's easier to find maybe in Australia or South Africa these days!

    Errrrrrr...Paint-Off is $14.95 per 500ml = $113.62 per gallon.

    Seems like the choices are:
Chicken Grease.....I can personally guarantee this.
Snack at the same time. $14.95 for a whole bucket!

orange skin or cheese.....need a platter to serve them on? Odor issue.

Or, if ur multi-tasking.............squirt ur hands over the top of the carb with this >>>

Trounce by Permatex. Best I've ever used. Use Boraxo for regular dirt, But for the real bad stuff, Trounce is the best.
