My brother sent me this video of a guy that built a v12 from scratch that actually runs. The workmanship is incredible! I really enjoyed how it showed him working the aluminum on the lathe to create the crankshaft, then the time lapse of assembly and eventually it running. How about the little connecting rods and pistons that are as long as the top section of his finger?!? I thought alot of people on here would enjoy this, especially the machinists. I hope this isn't too far off topic. Oh yeah, one last thing. At the end of the video, there are three notes in Spanish that I thought I'd translate to put into perspective as to how much work this little engine was to build. Numero de piezas.....261 Number of pieces.....261 Numero de tornillos...222 Number of screws....222 Horas de trabajo......1220 Hours of work.........1220 Enjoy.............E http://wimp.com/tiniestengine/
It does not actually "run". It is an interesting little model, but it is not an internal combustion engine. It sits there and spins looking like it is running, but it is actually operating on supplied compressed air. Not burning fuel like a real engine does. There are plenty of better actual real running miniature engines posted on you tube, even a flathead or 2.
That is cool and a lot of work. It's the first time I've seen it if it has been posted before I missed it.
