you have your hands full with this one! First off it wont do any good, but I would give the seller a call and say WTF dude! then I would start cutting everthing out and do it over ... Good Luck
this is part of why there are so many "chopped" cars that are made into converts and only have a windshield (sometimes) left. so many people want to have a radical car but, not willing to put in the time and effort to develop the skills required. plus, having the right tools.
That didn't originally come out of that auction that they had in Yakima last year that had a building full of half finished cars? Some of the so called work in that batch was of that caliber. Or it was done by the same guys who did this 52/3 Ford. One of my friends got this one in a trade last year and is hunting a new top for it. It sure looks like it was done by the same guys.
Looks like a 1940 Ford i tryed to save with a bad chop, dident buy it... It was tubbed bad to, wonder what rear they tryed to use... Love the detaile work on it...
That's not the worst I've seen...nor fixed. I've seen chopped Mercs with over two inches of bondo above the rear window...
That looks an awful lot like one that sat behind a crappy car lot on Sprauge, here in Spokane a few years ago. A few other piles came and went, but that sat for a few years.
come on now... the kids at the Technical Trades School For The Blind did as well as they possibly could. it's a bitch laying a bead when you don't need a hood.
Now that looks like the same work! I bought the car froma builder in Salem Or but he said he bought it this way and never got the time to finish the car. Maybe he had a bondo magnet......
wow!!!!!!!! Have never see something like that before, You have your hands full, Keep post on the rebuilt,
People that do things like that are why I'm scared to chop my truck...I don't want it to look all jacked up like those!
Well we finally got the new roof put on and it looks really good now! Now for some photo shop to figure out the chop. I want to do 3" front to back. And do not want to split the roof. Thinking of leaving the rear window unchopped and leaning it forward. Here's a picture if anyone wants to do some Photo chopping on it for idea's!
that is not an easy car to chop. i did a 4 dr '37 and the customer wanted the rain gutter seam to stay. i remember cutting the rear quarter windows out, cutting it into 7 pieces, swopping them around, to keep the original shape of the window. if i remember right it took me almost 2 weeks.
I feel your pain ! I'm working on a Kustom 1937 ford P.U. had a someone do a chop top on it and ruined it! He had no clue of what he was doing . I had to get a new cab and know it's in great hands at SOUTH CITY ROD & KUSTOM
Great work on the save, well planed and came out well. I would just leave it as is, and be happy that it is a good body again.
Well... It's pretty bad, but the welds are better then mine. " Play Stupid Games, Ya Win Stupid Prizes" A Old Saying 1926 Model T Ford Hand built Speedster Speedster Build Thread (http://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=67881&page=1)
Another tough one being saved. Good on 'ya!! I did this REAL quick and only eyeballed the 3"... moved roof forward, moved B pillar back to meet up with door line, moved the quarter window lower rear corner forward to meet up with the chopped C pillar and then leaned the rear deck and window forward to line up with the roof!! Easy to do digitally.. -Dave
