If you live in the congested SoCal in Orange County where the appointment time 3-4 months. Go on line for Palm Desert for an appointment the following week and spend 30 pleasant minutes at there very modern office. Then continue south on the hyway you turn off the 10 … 1/2 mile to a 50’s cafe for a nice lunch and go back home …..Just a nice day !

PS: if your older consider Hemet where the average age is 80 and the know old folks.

A)Here in Minnesota I never use a state run DMV office. Use a privately owned location.
B) I have not had a bad DMV experience in 30 years. Why, you wonder?
I am never in a hurry. I would take a day off work and plan a junkyard crawl for after the DMV.
Walking in with a pleasant attitude and small chit chat while laying out paperwork helps.
Try to have my ducks in a row but if I mess up I ask for info on what to do.
Making small talk in low tones to my clerk about the grumblers,whiners and upset people who come in with attitudes can usually get a small smile or eye wrinkles.
I have seen people walk in 'ready to fight' and THEY are usually to blame for a poor experience.
It's just a title folks....float along and let it happen. There are bigger battles to fight JMHO.

 

Id rather go to the dentist instead of DMV. At least the Dentist has N2O

 

Last time I had an issue with the DMV, I went home and filled a box full of paperwork. Anything at all related to the car, a copy of my birth certificate. Anything related to my address. Just a mess of stuff.
Went back to the DMV and plopped it on the counter and told the lady that, somewhere in there is papers that you require.
She found what she needed pretty quick.

 

They are keen on registration and there's a lot less pain in their process.

I knew someone, wink wink who went to one of those title services that used to advertise in the car mags. For $450 they furnished letters from a former owner of the car that he wanted to title, from New York who swar that he had owned the car for the last 20 years and sold it to my friend for X number of dollars, with a notarizied receipt. It went through the Wisconsin DMV and got a title. It was in total BS and lies. The car was not stolen, but just didn't have the correct paperwork.

I use AAA for most DMV paperwork, and appointments for DMV visits, it saves so much time.
It also helps to have your stuff together when dealing with DMV.
