I found a 46 chevy truck 4 speed trans here locally. I was wondering if it would be a worthwhile upgrade to my 36 1/2 ton chevy with a 3 speed. Just trying to get a little more top end speed out of it. Mine is 100% stock. The 46 is an enclosed driveline too. Thanks! Ron.. thanks!!
No, it won't help it go any faster. It would just give you a lower gear; which is known as a granny gear. You'll have to change the rear end to get it to go faster down the road.
