Features Would you call this old Buick a custom or a POS?

The length of the door and distance to the rear quarter gives this car away as having been a 4 door sedan. The door gap on the 2 door cars was much closer to the rear quarter blisters.

The proportions are throwing it off, the roof is super long and has way too much open past the doors. Here's a quick photoshop with some changed-up proportions. Would be really tough to achieve this but this version, with a chrome rear bumper and some paint, could be really nice looking.

Side note, how does one hold a windshild in with zip ties? Is it plastic with holes drilled in it, or what?!

 

It's on the way. Lose the skirt style and put something flush to the body, **** I might even like it then

Its a POS, work in progress to be a CUSTOM. I like it. Anything can be turned into a custom. Just need to keep going, and going, and going.

 

A lot of that had to do with show points, show points caused customs to have excessive mods and eventually led to the demise of the custom genre. Fortunately some old die hards brought custom cars through the dark era and back to us. The real problem has become the original problem, people are shooting for excess once again.

A well built custom is subtle. It can have some pretty serious mods and still be subtle, the whole idea is to catch the eye of the viewer and still have him wondering if it came that way or not. Take a look at the Westergard Merc here also know as the Fade Away. It is pretty extreme and when one considers that it was built in about '39 or '40 it becomes even more extreme but one could look at it and wonder if it came that way. One may even wonder if it wasn't a European luxury car.

 

Please not the "many customs were ****-ugly" and "show points and muscle cars ruined the custom scene" discussion again.......

 

Maybe it never died down under. What do you think killed it? I mean you were here to witness the demise, right?

this op buick is doable if the price is right. definitely got potential. but too bad they didn't just leave the top on.

 

Surely not too far gone for you to create a Kustom somewhere along the way.

Seems like a mute point since the op is banned and the car is no longer on Craigslist but seems to me for 8 grand you could buy an untouched car and start with a blank canvas.
