Seems a little high to me! Question is, do you want it that bad? Good luck!

  3. Little high to me, but not in the "smoking crack" range.

  4. Only you can know if it's worth it to you. Hard to say...

  5. that box doesn't look too bad..usually they are all beat to hell.

$2000 seams high to me too , i'd start a lot lower and see what happens

It seems a little high. Smoking crack? That would be no. If he were smoking crack, he would sell it to you for $15, only it wouldn't be his to sell.

Trust me, I live on the East Side of Crackton.

He might be fishing. Just be honest with the guy. tell him that's too steep and it'll cost an arm and a leg to put back together then offer him $1000 see where that gets ya. I got $3,000 off of a model A coupe cause I told the guy that the $5,000 he wanted for it was way out of touch with the market and he agreed. just put $5,000 on it because he got tired of people askin about it that didn't ever plan to buy it.

  10. I could get that out of it up here, might have to throw a quick and dirty coat of flat black on it, but otherwise no problem. Priced just a good grille for one lately?

But I predict most replies on here will say it's too high. Lot of guys think it's still 1980 and scrap's so low the junkyard will only give you $20 for a car. Couple weeks ago it was $200 a ton again -

to all who have replied so far, thanks for your help. the price seemed a little high to me for the amount of dents and tears. i figured it would be around $1000. i dont really need it that badly. i just wanted to get a second opinion on the price. i may try to haggle him down. on the other hand, since it is somewhat complete with engine, grill and headlights, it may warrant a few more dollars. thanks again for the guidance.

That still only makes that truck worth $250 in scrap. unless it's a good advertisement for his business I'd say it could be had for $1500

To me price is what it will take to get it on the trailer, and how badly you want it.

I'd try to offer him $1200 cash and have a few hundred extra to up the ante to $1500.

Then if he doesn't take it you can decide if you want to or can afford the extra $500.

Personally myself I would buy it. The body looks nice enough and these trucks make a very nice full fendered hot rod truck.

I think they have nice lines.

I'm in the $1,000 offer camp. Be sure to check to see if someone stuck a Ford tube front axle in it, double check the condition of the grill.

  16. How is the windsheild frame, and the steel around it? Hard to fix if that is rusted out. If not, offer him a grand, but bring $1500.

Well how is the frame? Even up here in NY that would be hard to sell for $2000 unless the frame was good and the doors open and closed. From my experience here in NY if the frame is in the ground there is a good chance that it is shot and most of all the vehicles I have seen from this era the doors usually opened up but the hinges were rusted shut so the only real movement was the door moving with the front of the brackets bending the door surround. Just really look it over good before you spend $2000 on something that you may be able to get for a little more that requires less major work. (Frame and other major supports) Unless you are handy with metal then go for it.

  18. I agree with the offer $1200 and maybe go to $1500.

You are the one looking at it in person, the price can depend alot on details and condition not revealed in the pics.

Hell !!! I will pay $1,500 for a fair condition bed, and $2,000 for a real nice one. In 5 years I've found exactly- none.

The thing is that everyone thinks because it is old it is worth a mint. Reality is that they are all worth what both parties agree on.

Last month I sold one in simular condition for 1,000 dollars but the guy paid another grand to haul it so maybe yes, maybe no. If it had a title it would help too.

I've seen 3 of 'em on craigslist in the last 6 months all less than $750.

I would also offer a 1,000. But I would leave out the take it or leave it. That would piss me off and make me grab my shot gun and ask you to leave!

I agree. When someone quickly shoots a price that is right at the absolute high end, I usually think they are fishing. Often these guys have had many offers, and tend to raise the price every time they get one.

The truck doesn't look too bad in the pics, but I think the price is bull boat for Texas.

I'm in the $1000 camp as well. It doesn't look like there is a lot of straight metal and that is probably one of the least desireable pre-war Fords made.

no wonder you southern guys have lots of cars and hate 4 doors up here thats a 3500.00 truck all day long and it would sell. Watch out for us Canadians and flat beds.

  30. I agree Rick, I could sell that truck a hundred times in Ontario.
