Would you trade a glass32 for a 57 nomad

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by roadstar, Apr 27, 2004.

  1. I have a chance to sell my glass bodied roadster that is completely dissasembled right now and not painted for a restored 57 Chevy Nomad.

The Nomad has been restored to original. But the paint is not an original color. it's close to the factory copper color for that year but it is a late model ford color. It's a real nice paint job but just not the "Right" color.

The car came from Arizona and is rust free. The original 283 powerpack engine has been rebuilt and the interior is nice but not perfect. It needs the dash restored to be real nice and a new carpet set. But the seats are new( repo covers) and the door panels have been replaced as well.

I think it's a cool car. Just thought I would run it by some of my HAMB buddys.

YES........... in a MINUTE, Not BECAUSE the ROADSTER is ""GLASS" But because GLASS ROADSTERS are EASY TO REPLACE,,,,...

The 57 NOMAD, if it is an ACTUALLY NOMAD,,, Is already rare,,,,,

and not to mention really cool...

    So I WOULD MAN..

you can ALWAYS BUILD another ""GLASS"" 32 ford,,
they will never stop making those

If you love Nomads I would not pass it up...like Germ said a glass 32 can be replaced, but adding to that a glass 32 that is blown apart and being redone can be replaced...the big question is do you like Nomads enuff to give up a roadster of any type...can you afford to build another one someday...do you want a repro steel one someday...ect. ect....those are the questions you gotta answer for yourself...

  6. That is EXACTLY what I thought. I can replace the roadster over the phone. Well almost, I did built the chassis but I can reproduce it with new parts again.
This Nomad is super solid and I am thinking investmant grade. And I can still drive it.

Also I do plan on building another roadster. And I have most of the parts and they are all VERY nice original parts.

Hell the Nomad would(will) Make a great tow vehical for a lakes inspired 32 roadster.

HAve you guys seen Vic Edelbrock Sr's restored roadster [IMG]

Consensus seems to be that most would be willing to trade a glass '32 for a nice Nomad... if true, should make it easier to trade back if you change your mind down the road! [IMG]

Even if you get to play the high school girl in the above post? You remember what it feels like to be a teenage girl, it was only a few years ago.

Aw, Hell, I'd trade the plastic roadster for a MALIBU wagon! [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Seriously, like everyone sez...you can buy another glass Deuce anytime...but a steel Nomad is WAY cooler!

BUT...(and this is IMPORTANT!)...mind what the lady thinks, too!!! [IMG] [IMG]

(psssst, Denise....lots of room in a Nomad! [IMG] [IMG])

I agree with GERM .... wait..... did I say that [IMG]

HAMBer Danny (from Midland but now from St. louis MO) is doing a gasser Nomad. One nice thing about the Nomad is you have option on how you want to do.
You can always replace the glass roadster like I could always replace my glass 32 5W. That's why I sold mine and got the shoebox.

True you could always build another roadster right out of a catalog, and probably improve upon anything you thought you would have done differently, but before I'd go trading I'd make sure the Nomad, doesn't need a bunch of work, or maintenance. I've always gone through any car I got just so I was confident in driving it and driving it hard. I know how happy you are with the way the roadster drives and rides, make sure you will be just as happy with the Nomad.

And just because it's a glass car, doesn't mean it's not worth a bunch of money to the right buyer, there's a whole world of non-gearheads out there that just buy turn key cars.

Oh hell yea. How often are you ever going to get an opportunity to have a car like that. Glass roasters grow on trees.

Here's a photo of his bad ass roadster.
There is no comparing the fun factor, the roadster would blow the Nomad right outta the water. [IMG]
