Denise, thanks for posting the pic. While I love Nomads and I know that they ain't making anymore-whether steel or fiberglass, I love Deuce roadsters even more. So, unless the plan is to off the Nomad for a BIG bag of money, I have to agree with Denise. Keep the roadster!

All cars are replaceable...some are more expensive...but still replaceable...they made thousands of the nomads and thousands of the glass roadsters....now for my opinion...what do you want?...do that!!!....if this is just a way to turn some cash, I would go with the nomad...the market is kinda flooded with glass roadsters and nomads have a smaller buying public, but they aren't as available.

DO IT.. seriously.. You can't build a nomad from scratch (not really..) and it's a wagon! You can tow my imperial when it breaks down. BUHAHA

You better drive that thing over when you get it!!

You are the only one that can make that decision. If you want a Nomad and it's NEVER been rusted, that's a tough one to duplicate later. I'm doing the same thing right now. Selling what some people may think is more valuable to buy a never rusted truck that I really love. I say do what is in your heart. If your wants change there will always be a market for a rust free Nomad.

there's one more factor here to consider. Rudy also has a fresh '40 Ford that's just tits, so it's not like he will be rodless. I stand by what I told you before, go for the Nomad. Besides, that other roadster in the back of your mind is all ready going together.

I was screaming TRADE! until Denise posted the pic of your roadster, now I am confused. That is a beautiful car! Still, I would do the trade, then build another roadster. You probably had some things you would do different on the roadster, now is your chance.

Here's a photo of his bad ass roadster.
There is no comparing the fun factor, the roadster would blow the Nomad right outta the water. [IMG]

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I agree with ya there!!!!

  17. I wouldn't.
Now you have a choice - open or closed car.
Once the roadster is gone you'll miss it a whole lot, especially once you find some of the hidden flaws in the Nomad. They all got em and no matter how hard you look you won't find some until you've had the car for a while.

Even if you build another roadster - and it's easily done nowadays - it'll never be the same.
Not to mention that getting another roadster on the road can be difficult and for many it never happens.

Then there's the comments when you're out in public.
The Nomad: "Nice old car." "Nice restoration." Etc.
The Roadster: Wow! A roadster! Neat car. Wish I had one.

Only a small percentage of people know what a Nomad is . . . everybody knows what a roadster is . . . even civilians.... [IMG]

Rudy, if the Nomad is a rust free Arizona car and does'nt need much to get it in top shape I would probably make the trade. You still have the forty to drive. You can take your time and collect the right parts for the new roadster. They are'nt repopping Nomads. Check around and see what the value is on the Nomad...you may be money ahead trading. Don't ask me, I traded a rust free 31 roadster for a 70 Chevelle and cash. I'd do it in a heartbeat. Do I miss that roadster? Yup. Do I like getting in the Chevelle and taking of on 2200 mile trips whenever I want? Yup. Do I miss not being able to power park at NSRA events? Nope! [IMG]

BTW, that Nomad sounds exactly like the one Dick Brooks tried to trade me for my deuce several years ago. And he sold it to a guy in Arizona! Check the inner fenders and see if they have been cut for fenderwell headers then patched. I bet it's the same damned car. It was a good car back then except for those inner fender wells and the dash needing a little work. At the time the Nomad was worth about 10/12 grand and I had over 17 grand in my Deuce chassis & Body so I passed. I really wanted a roadster so I swapped for the 31. Now Nomads have come up and deuces are common, so... Today, I'd probably take it.

Trade it and drive the shit of of it. Sell it to some Chevy Nomad Nut down the road for 35 grand and buy yourself a steel roadster later.

  21. Wow! Rudy, didn't know ya had a '32 Roadster till this post. Man, the car looks Killer in that pic above.

What a dilema! I'm sure you will make the right decision for yourself. '57 'Mads are cool, so is your Roadster.

I'll tell ya what I would do. Get a clean sheet of paper, drawn a line down the middle. Top of the page, write Nomad in one column and roadster in the other.

Then simply Pro & Con it. The longest and most positive column wins. I made many a important decision doing it this way.

Your a sharp guy, Rudy. Gives us a update when you make your decision.

    2 sheckles worth. [IMG]

And, "Color's not right." "That thingamajig there isn't original." "If he'd only taken the time ($) to do it right." "Turquoise and white Convertibles with Continental kits are worth way more, I want one of them..." Etc.

Keep the roadster. Even the guy who wants to trade obviously agrees with that decision! [IMG]

    DrJ,
it's not a trade in the conventional sense, there is someone interested in purchasing his Roadster and at the same time Rudy has been considering the Nomad. So the trade would be for Rudy only and to sell the Roadster and put the money towards the Nomad.

would not even think twice. Steel is always better. those nomad guys will go crazy over that, you will probably be able to buy a used steel 32 body after you sell the nomad. or the nomad would look sweet with some wide whites bagged and in the the weeds.

  25. I'm not sure, but I think Denise isn't crazy about the idea.... [IMG] [IMG]

That's why you make it a custom! It'll be cooler as a custom AND it'll piss off the resto-nazis! I love to see those guys cringe and get all twitchy. [IMG]

  26. Wow!! This post has gone on way more than I ever imagined. some very good points made on both sides.

Denise, that was a sucker punch showing me that pic [IMG]

Investment wise the chevy is a good deal for what I can buy it for. The roadster is one of the coolest and best driving cars I have ever built(well the new 40 is proving to be pretty nice so far) It would surly be missed.

I have been collecting parts for a 40's era steel 32 roadster and I'm very close, Even got a line on a pair of nos Navarro heads!

This has been lots of fun hearing what everyone thinks. Alot like hanging out in the garage and shooting the shit with a bunch of car guy(and gal) friends.

    Thank you.

...mid '60's,...Rod-n-Custom cover car, '57 Nomad,...silver and gold flake, with Dennis Rickletts flames, Buick wire wheels on thin whitewalls, LOW,...one of the coolest customs EVER, and it hasn't been cloned...?
