    old school drop.
axle appears straight but I have no idea if the king pin angles are right. super cool to look at.
I think it is worth further investigating.

Do some verifying with some mechanical scrutiny and if it checks out I think it would be acceptable...It made it this far...

I'm thinking of someone like Kohler can't think of his first name maybe Andy who drops these all the time could place it in his jig to check for square...

Are the axles these fellas drop checked for cracks after as a rule as in magnafluxing or something along those lines?

I like it. Wouldn’t cost much to have someone throw it in a jig and check the angles etc. plus, good info to have if/when it finds another home.

    thats the plan

I will let you know if I don't use it

I have no use for it brother, my Model A days are over. But as far as your question about using it, heck yeah, that's a much better choice than what's on the market these days in my opinion. But you never know, I'd hang it above my bed!

    :)

I have a "trog" car build in my head.

Charlie got it from a friend's widow who told him take whatever he could find in the woods. this was way out back down an old fire road, no idea what it was in.

Andy Kohler can help you square it up and he's not too far away.

42-8 spindles the bones are earlier though. 42-8 bones have a sweep to them.the pictured have mechanical brake rod holders.

It's a 35-36 wishbone, so the axle is probably the same.

Andy Kohler straightened out the mismatched sides of a similar axle for me.

As far as checking for cracks, etc. if you know anyone at a machine shop they might let you borrow a “portable mag checker”. My guys let me use this rather large permanent magnet and a snifter? I’d **** in some of the yellow powder, then spritz the suspect area and if there was a crack, it’d leave a black line.

  29. Those old forged axles are pretty tuff. You seldom see one with a crack in it. I would just check the camber angle and if it was good I would run it and never look back.

If you get it all apart, won't a good axle ring like a bell?
If it was cracked or cast it wouldn't?
