1948 banjo with model a spring and mounts,,open drive kit is from speedway..

i'm going to try the right position of the headers... and......yes this distributor is the piece i will change next.....i want the mallory!

 

looking good, you have come a fair way. still watching with interest. Check up on Mallory stuff , they had a bad name in recent years for flathead stuff, generally the quality and the curve in the distributors was for a chev not a flathead. Not sure if its changed since, but best to be in the know.

the clutch kit,a shaft that goes to the bellhousing ,one rod with clips,2 levels....i cut one of them and weld a plate then i mount all to the frame to check the right position...the piece of level i have cut will be welded to the pedal when i put on the body....suggestions?

hi all,just to upload 1 picture of working progress,,,is time to wiring....


note grille on radiator....saving money to buy parts i check in my brother garage
and try this home stereo speaker grille.....i think is not bad idea..what you think?..eh eh!

just arrived a killer 2 spoke old boat steering wheel

 

I HIGHLY recommend you replace those clip pins with a bolt and locking fastener. the clip pops off WAY too easy, then you will not be able to disengage the clutch. I use the exact same component in manufacturing door latch ***emblies for vehicles. they do not belong on a clutch linkage. the clevis part should be fine.

 

Your hot rod is absolutely gorgeous. You are doing a fantastic job on it.

If that red distributor cap bothers you (doesn't bother me, I left mine red for the longest time then finally painted it) you can simply buy an aerosol spray can of black plastic paint that is made for stuff like patio furniture. It will say "For use on plastic" on the can. Just put a little wrap of masking tape around the top 1/8 inch of each tower, scuff it with a scotchbrite, degrease it, then shoot a light coat on, followed with a heavier second coat.

It holds up great and doesn't create any electrical arcing or anything bad like that. When you take the tape off the 1/8 inch of red at the top of each tower is covered by the boots on the wires, so you never see it.
