Ha, fooled you again!! You guys fall for this every time. It's mine. With the help of fab32 (big thanks Frank) I made a little trip to Toledo to swap ***les. Now Grumpy has the hot rod we wants and I have the custom I want. I'll be making some subtle changes to the Fleetline and I know I'll have a few questions as time goes on so be prepared. And it sounds like Tim (Grumpy) has some really neat ideas for the coupe, I'm anxious to see 'em.
and the randy/donzie/grumpy coupe saga continues!!!!! looks like you got yourself a nice ride there donzie!!! i wanna know when someone is gonna wanna swap me cars, anyone wanna swap for a 50 ford?? haha
hey donzie dont u allready have a kustom? thats a year newer then that one there??? hehe if i knew u wanted a kustom i woulda traded u for my chevy damnit!! i figured u didnt since i allready had one. o well good deal any way. cant wait to see it! Bryan
[ QUOTE ] I made a little trip to Toledo to swap ***les. [/ QUOTE ] You were in Toledo and you didn't stop by to visit. Gee that's gra***ude for ya.
OK Donnie how long are you gonna keep this one? If you keep this up you are gonna need your own window at the Secretary of State's office Ya better drive it to breakfast next Saturday. Can't wait to see it
Does Mr G***er know you offed his ride? Whaddaya gonna do with TWO old Chevys? Ha Ha Ha...good score, Dude! What's under da HOOD, Bro???
This is the car that Grumpy took in partial trade for his truck a while back. Here's the skiiny on the '49. 70 nova subframe, rearend, 250/six p/g, power disc front, drum rear, power steering, nosed, decked, shaved, power door poppers, lowered, new split manifold and new duals, wipers/gauges/gas gauge all work, nice interior. The only thing we did was swap wheels/tires (the reason for the floor jack). He wanted to keep the radials he had. His buddy Jeff was also on hand. A couple of great guys. We had a chance to set down over lunch and shoot the sh*t. 2 customs? Well 1 1/2 maybe. I've come to terms that the '50 is a long ways off from getting back on the road. There is some serious work to be done on it and we don't want to rush the process. This one will give me something to drive in the meantime.
Looks like that's my good buddy Fab32 in the background with what appears to be a trailer ....but that can't be, unless of course you traded a trailer queen away or accepted one in trade. Na, a "Gay Michigan *****" would never own a trailer queen, his friends would never let him live that down. Good score in any event

[ QUOTE ] Na, a "Gay Michigan *****" would never own a trailer queen, his friends would never let him live that down. [/ QUOTE ] Wow, you used "gay *****" and "queen" in the same sentence! I like to think of it more as a "Trailer ****". Anyway, unknown cars and unknown weather conditions so we opted for the safe way out. Our timing coming home was perfect. As I got back into Midland there were tree branches everywhere. Apparently high winds and a small tornado p***ed thru town just before I got there.
Real nice Donzie, But I bet you'll be looking for another Rod within a year, to replace one of your customs.
you change your mind more than a woman !!! nice score though. the Ford is a good car but i like that Chebby better. can't wait to see what Grumpy has in store for his new Hot Rod. i'll bet it rocks when he's done with it. when you get sick of the Fleetline (in what, about 2 weeks right?? ) let me know, we might have to do some tradin or somethin ... at any rate you'll have one "mild" and one "WILD" kustom when the 50 is done...
hey Don(zie) It was great meeting you and Frank(fab32). You guys are stand up! I hope everything is ok, and as I promised on the fastback. I have the entire interior out of the 48 already, and the flat-gl*** is being cut as we speak. I am pleased with the deal. The fastback was/is cool, but I got the little hotrod I wanted. You'll be shocked by the end result. later, Tim
Tim, glad everything worked out. It was great meeting both you and Jeff. I already removed the visor. there's a large cheer from the crowd I've got some ideas for a few other "personal" changes but I need to address the carb situation first. Can't decide between the 2 barrel or a 2 x 1 setup.
I don't know how I get hooked into these situations, Just a ****er for a road trip I guess. Denise, when I'm involved in one of these transactions I know my 1-ton PU will get me there and back home.with or without a trailer. I like to refer to this trip as a typical Donzie deal. We leave my place with Randy's coupe on the trailer (Randy, I was only following orders), get on the expressway and I ask Donzie, "Do you know where we're going?". "Toledo" was the reply. I said, "I know that, but exactly where in Toledo?". "Grumpy said Toledo was about the half way point, so we'll meet them there". At that point I knew I wanted to be somewhere else. Thank God for cell phones or we would still be driving around Toledo looking for a Chevy Fleetline on a trailer. Frank
We travel much better together, huh Frank? Seems the only problem we had on our excursion, was when we were on Donzie's part of the trip
It's really cool that this exchange was a "win/win" situation for both of you. Both guys get what they want. This is the second time that I know of for you Donnie. I think the first was that ****** down in Flint
[ QUOTE ] ....This is the second time that I know of for you Donnie. I think the first was that ****** down in Flint [/ QUOTE ] I'm not so sure about that one Rich, I know she got the BEST of me but I think I got the WORST of her! I'm still a little itchy.
hey Donzie, Cool, I didn't care for the visor all too much either. plus I wasn't a huge fan of the pinstriping. My wife, although, did love the car as is. She's warming up to the coupe though. I called home today from work and asked my daughter where mommy was, and she said : taking the seats back out of the car to install the insulation you bought yesterday!! God, I love that girl!! The interior already looks completely different from when it came home. Plus all the flat-gl*** is coming friday, so it'll be in by sunday. later Tim
Wow, I'm impressed. My wife is liking this one better just 'cause it HAS an interior. I'm not to sure what to do about the "graphics". I know the heart with the car on the trunk has to go. I've never figured out why you'd want a picture of your car on your car. Kinda like pinning a picture of yourself on your shirt. It may be a job for safarinut. Here's the look I'd like to achieve.
