Hot Rods Wrecked '26 T...could use some help

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by ddavidv, Jul 8, 2014.

  1. There are 2 26/27 shells on ePay right now

  2. I wonder if you have a steel shell that was br*** plated? Try a magnet on it.

  3. I believe all of the factory shells were steel. Some were painted, some were plated. Whoever built this car sent the shell, the headlight rims, etc out to be br*** plated. If he wants to duplicate the look, then he will have to procure a shell and do the same

  4. They used to be called 'Catwalks', though time tends to change things...

The most difficult thing for you In My Opinion is justifying cost. You really have nothing to go on that is concrete. That car may have cost the owner $3000 to build 40 years ago. But now...one hundred thousand is not unreasonable as a custom shop prices go. Parts, skills and materials that were commonly available then are just about unobtainable and unfordable in this day and time.

  6. $100K? To duplicate that Model T? Is one guy hammering it all out of a stack of steel sheets, including the engine?

  7. Go to the Fordbarn and the T forum. Lots of help there and guys with lots of spares they might part with.
