Try a deer whistle, Oh wait, do they call deer or keep them away? I've hit them too. Glad you guys are ok. Sorry about your ride.

Thanks everybody! That poor ole deer was way messed up, didn't get to keep him. Now I get to see how good American Hobbyist will handle my claim. They changed names, don't know if they are still an Alliance vendor or not. Oh yeah, thank goodness we had our seat belts on .

What a bummer. Living in central tx. I know how numerous the deer are, and they'll come outta nowhere. Every car I own has deer whistles descreetly attached, they are seldom even noticed. The deer generally just perc up and listen, I've never hit one (knock on wood). My daughter doesn't use them because she doesn't believe they work, she's hit 3 deer in the last 5 years. Sorry for your loss.

Man that's a lot of damage from a small deer! Going to be interesting to see how the insurance co. handles that. I was up north a couple weeks ago here in Michigan and a local guy hit a big six point right outside our deer camp. The deer hit the side of the front fender of his Dodge truck and didn't even dent it! Of course when we go up there to hunt next weekend there won't be a deer to be found!

  6. You'd think they would move the deer crossing signs to a more con****uous area, why do they always have them where the trees come right up to the edge of the road?

Good to hear you and your girl are good. I can see an antler hood-ornament when you get the 34 fixed up!

Glad you're okay, keep us posted on how your insurance company handles this. Does this come under the heading "getting hit by someone that's "uninsured?"

Is it just me or does it seem like there's more of this deer vs car stuff going on? My buddy hit one the other night, in town, on the way home with a pizza. This is a beach town. It's not exactly Concrete Jungle, but close. I went out to get the paper the other morning and there was a deer in my front yard eating my wife's flowers. I've been here for years and NEVER seen a deer down here in town.

I don't know if you followed Dave Staub's "49 in 9" power drive through the country in August -- but the first thing he put on his roadster to prep fro the trip was deer whistles.

I hereby curse that antlered vermin to rot on a roadside! My coyotes dine on his hide!

Eddie, you know you have no shortage of folks to help out, but remember I'm on that list, too.

    Very sorry to hear man.

I almost met my maker today, about a mile down my street is thick woods with a shear drop 2 feet off the one side of the road, i was taking the 53' for a spin because its been a while, deer jumped right out and stopped dead, i stupidly swerved and cut back, rear broke loose and kicked around, aiming me right for the drop, slamed it in neutral and locked the brakes and had me facing him again 180 degree's around. Not going to lie i tried to run him down after that.

Damn Eddie, glad you two are alright, sorry to see the car smashed..

I'm sure it will be back better than before, I guess this is an excuse to flame the front so you don't have to match the paint. :)

Wow , Glad you both came out on top..
especially considering 70 mph... That's a well built car...
I worry about that , this time of year up here in the PNW...
FWIW , since your in the ' insurance business' -would be interesting to hear the outcome...

Son of a buck! Sorry to read this. Glad it sounds like you're okay, though. Best of luck with your car, and again, my sincere condolences. Hitting anything really really ****s.

I know it's a bummer, and I don't want to make light off the damage, but hitting that deer could've yielded worse results. Where I live in Georgia, the deer are everywhere. I've hit one twice, one was smack head-on ... felt like I hit another car head-on.

I've heard of people being killed by the deer coming through the windshield. So, I'm really glad you and your wife are well. I'm sure you'll have that beautiful '34 back on the road soon.

Makes me sick to my stomach, how fast things can go south. Glad to hear you two are doing well!

A small deer is much better than a drunk going the wrong way, which we seem to get here fairly often :/

  29. Glad you are OK. The hot rod can be fixed. Deer are moving this time of the year. I almost hit one last night in a residential neighborhood. Be careful out there.

  30. Sorry to hear that man... Maybe you can at least make some good sausage. ;)
