long (read ANNOYING) story short: i ordered rustoleum charcoal gray semi gloss enamel from home depot, but although the code number is from rustoleum directly they sent charcoal gray GLOSS enamel. Apparently it doesn't actually exist in semi-gloss, despite their web site info, and they will refund me for the error. Problem is i'm back to square one; no cheap paint available in semi gloss charcoal gray that's easy to shoot. So here's my question: i have a box of 6 aerosol cans and 2 quarts of gloss enamel. do i return it or is there some simple cheap way to make this into semi gloss? or should i get black and make it gray by adding white? help!?! thanx
I believe you can get a semi gloss excuse the expression clear coat. Paint your stuff scuff and clear coat. Rutoleum makes clear I believe, if not Krylon does.
Or, get a can of gloss white, and a can of flat black, and mix your own grey. Just make sure you keep track of how much of each you used and mix enough to do the whole job, plus some for touchups later.
Rustoleum is an OIL base enamel- buy a quart of any other brand satin clear in an [oil base] and mix it 50/50 with your grey metallic.....should be close to what you want.
