My son (37) used our Brand New Cherry Picker to pull a stump out of the ground - bent one leg - REALLY ticked be off!!!

Back in '62 I bought my first tool set a Craftsman. Every time I used the Ratchet I had to take a screwdrive to pry off the socket. Shortly after that They came out with the Push Botton release. I tried to break mine so I could take it in and get a New One. For several years I used it for a hammer, and totally abused it to try to break it. Finally I put a six foot pipe on it to take off some lug nut on a school bus, jumped on it and IT FINALLY BROKE!!!!:D I hurried down to Sears and got my brand new push botton release Ratchet.:) :) :) :)

And one more I just remembered. I worked with this guy back in Virginia who had been building drag cars forever (so he should know better). He was coming home late one night when he headlights started to dim. He pops the hood to check the water level in the battery and what does he use for a light? Why of course his lighter! If it wasent for a quick thinking motorist washing his eyes with water from my freinds own ice chest he would be blind today!! Im a firm believer in "whatever works" but what was he thinking?

I used a small craftman toolbox for traction when my Maliby got stuck in the sugar sand on the side of the road.
I had obviously crushed it but, I brought it back to Sears anyway.
    Manager:.....What happened?
Me: I dunno.. it just broke.
Manager: (Now looking at the Concave lid) It just broke?
    Me:... Yes sir... Weird huh?
Manager:. Yep. Weird. Go get another one and get out of here.

    Classic!

I had to cut a wrench in half to get into a tight spot and used the same line:

Stand with straight face: "Yup, I dunno, it just broke."

I once hooked my climbing harness to the winch of my truck to lower myself into my dug well at my house to change the foot valve at the bottom of the well.

This thread has been on here for a while, but I remembered it this morning while reading the newspaper.

Some moron near Seattle, Washington had been trying to loosen one of the lug nuts on his Lincoln Continental for two weeks, without success. He finally decided he'd be able to loosen the stubborn nut by blasting the wheel with a 12-gauge shotgun. Instead, he injured himself badly in both legs.

From arm's length, he fired at the wheel and was peppered in both legs with buckshot and debris. Some injuries were as high as his chin. Nobody else was there, and he wasn't intoxicated.

That was dumb. I would have invited all my friends over, got shit-faced, and used a .44 Magnum.

I was on a houseboat trip at Lake Powell with a father-daughter group a few years ago. One of the fathers decided to drive a tent stake with the back side of a single-edged axe. He, predictably, glanced the axe off the stake and into his leg. He put a 3 in long gash in his lower leg and had to be boated into town for stitches.

A long handled phillps head screwdriver is the only tool to use to remove stubborn screw on oil filters. Just drive it right though the filter and start turning.

    Cheers, Glen.

I had to use a combination wrench one time to replace the clutch linkage that fell off of a 65 ford PU. Found the one that was the right length to fit over the pin on the cross shaft and stick in the depression on the clutch arm. Held it on with....you guessed it.....bailing wire. We get inventive when were out in the middle of nowhere.

I saw a guy pull out his electric meter and use a set of jumper cables to hook up his welder to the power companys side of the power.

I have a cut off 12 gauge shotgun barrel that works perfect over the end of a 3/8" drive ratchet. I've stripped out a few ratchets that way, but Craftsmen keeps replacing them.:D

Are you f-ing kidding me?!?!? I was skeptical when I got my set of ratcheting wrenches!

To fit the thread, these are the wrong too for any job besides your girlfriends IKEA bookshelves.

Ok I read every post thinking I'd see it but how about starter fluid and a match to seat the tire bead on a wide set of wheels!

How about the guy in Washington State that used a shotgun to loosen that last lugnut on his Continental? He lived, so he's not a Darwin Award contender, yet.

We have one of those outside fire pot things and the wood was a little damp. No problem a little gas cant fix. Turned around to set the can down and before I could tell her not to, my daughter bent over in front of the opening to make sure she got the lit match far enough into it and whoooomp! lit her up like Michael in the Pepsi commercial. Its grown back now (her hair and eyebrows).

My father worked with a guy that took a regular hand saw and he couldnt get it to cut very fast so he thought to himself ah ha the teeth they are bent and thats why it wont cut. My Dad was laughing his ass off watching this guy take a hammer and straighten everyone of those teeth. My Dad still has it as a memento.

A guy I work with blew a lawn mower tire through the roof with this trick. Needless to say, the boss doesn't let that trick happen anymore.
