Why is it that most of the bitching about other threads are done by O.P.s that are guilty of the same thing? This OP started a thread blaming his transmission shop for making his rear main seal leaking. I would much rather read a thread about a grandpa posting pics of his grandson or granddaughter in the hotrod peddle car he built for them than reading bullshit like that.
Brad chevy- It was a question thread.....and it was about a REAL 57 YEAR OLD CAR..... Sorry this thread didnt have enough pictures for you.
I understand the issue of some excellent threads being pushed down by other threads that some consider irrelevant. And I know I risk taking flack because I'm newer, and I wasn't around when the 'old HAMB' was 'good' (I like the current HAMB just fine), but, isn't a forum just like a digital camera? With a film camera, every picture had to count... but with a digital camera (forum), you can just delete (skip) the photos (threads) that you don't like or want. Or, for some of you who don't own digital cameras: Sometimes the tomatoes that are on the top of the stack at the grocery store are squishy. I don't like squishy tomatoes. But instead of refusing to buy tomatoes and standing in front of the grocery store with a sign complaining about the tomatoes on top, I just dig down a bit and find the one I want. Someone else may like squishy tomatoes.
Squishy Tomatoes make great sauces. Some of the more "irrelevant" posts are entertaining. I'm new too, and I like it here. I can find REALLY interesting ideas/tech, and I can read an interesting story or two along the way.
I know Im new too but not new to forums. And yes there are more things to life than just cars, so I have a suggestion....make a "Lounge" area on the main H.A.M.B page where all the OT stuff can get posted? The 3 other forums I frequent have them and it keeps the clutter down on the main subjects. Actually H.A.M.B is the least organized forum Ive seen, not that I mind cause I learn something with every thread I click on. Other forums break stuff down, to put it generically; "Engines", "Suspension", "Electrical", "Forced Induction", "Body Fab/Paint", etc etc. Then they have a "General" section with would be on topic stuff but not as specific. But less is more right?
Ryan has a "Lounge" area on I believe the Garage Journal and hates it. You won't see it on the HAMB anytime soon.
This is the internet, if you don't like what you're seeing, use your mouse and change the scenery. Better yet, start a site and then spend every waking moment trying to figure out why it will never, EVER, be as good as the HAMB. If all you're gonna do is bitch about stuff and not take an active interest in helping then CeeYa! I'd bet there are times the mods get tired of seeing me report posts, but it's the least I can do to help... wait, it's not the least I could do, I could start a fucking thread complaining about how OTHER PEOPLE don't do more to make me happy. How about starting a thread that says, "Hey mods and Ryan, thanks for busting your ass behind the scenes while we sit here and play. I appreciate your time and efforts so much that I put up $50 towards this place." Shit, now I gotta get off the HAMB before I say something that gets me in trouble. Enjoy the day
Yep it's called "Free Parking" and I can't believe some of the stuff, really personal stuff, some of those guys post.
I ask a question about trying to figure out ride height with a monoleaf and get six replies, I appreciate the six replies but this dumb ass thread gets fifty quit your bitchin and use the search function.
My life is not that organized so I hate the forums that want to file everything in the right place. The HAMB suits me fine and the search function pretty much sorts things if I choose to do that.
