In some jurisdictions they confiscate the vehicle on the second offense.

I think 'unimproved' roads are closed, not improved ones.

Burnin53,you don"t live in a drought state where fires are a problem so unless you know what you are talking about keep believing its horseshit.Fla,Calif,Texas and others will tell right quick it is a real problem.

Driving down the road,a spark is gonna come out of his exhaust and catch the forest on fire?

    Horseshit.[/QUOTE]

I guess ignorance truly is Bliss:rolleyes:

I certainly would have words with some Jackhole running straitpipes around my place in the dry season.

Ever followed someone with strait pipes at night and see the light show when they take their foot off the gas??

Don't think some low compression flat head produces alot of carbon deposits that get blown out the tail pipes glowing red???

  12. Ive been outside for the last hour. I live on the corner of two Hwys. If I where a complainer about noise I wouldnt have any peace. There where two groups of loud motorcycles. several loud trucks. Some divorced folks where doing the kid swap at the jct. having a heated discussion. A airplane droning. The loudest vehicle had quiet exhaust. It was Jacked up 4 wheel drive the tire noise was horrendous you could hear it coming & going for 15 minutes. the woman who complained about the loud exhaust. she was just complaining to be complaining. Maybe she thinks old cars are polluting and destroying the planet or her health. maby she is jealous. maby she was jilted by a former lover who had a old car with loud pipes. some folks want to blame others for their unhappiness. There are just folk who want to be bullies and jump on other folks. Lots of cops just want to be bullies. In my opinion she was the one being disrespectful. Ive learned not to let unimportaint things irritate me. Im very hard of hearing. nowadays all my vehicles have quiet exhaust. however I dont care what type of exhaust anyone else has. OldWolf

When I hammer on it, it becomes the god of THUNDER!!!! It is frickin loud. Never been pulled over but I do understand how it may bother some people. Others comment on how they love the sound. One day, I will put some sort of mufler in it but at this time , I'm still good with it.

Pardon me all to hell for living where it rains all the time.
Yeah,I'm pretty ignorant for not living in the the desert, where shit just bursts into wildfire because of one tiny spark from someones tailpipe.
Don't know anything about carbon deposits in an exhaust system either, just started working on cars 30 years ago, professionally for 20.

And I really appreciate a few of you guys calling me ignorant for wondering what driving on the street had to do with the forest service.
I actually thought the spark arrester deal may have been a law in off-road parks or trails or something.
Now,walk up to me face to face and call me ignorant, might be a different outcome when there isn't a computer to hide behind.

I can't believe all the ''hot rodders'' on hear telling the op he should get mufflers on his car. It's not a top fuel engine we're talking about. Someone earlier in the thread said it was a six cylinder. Not gonna be that loud. Unless he's red lining that thing and/or doing holeshots in the road, his neighbors should shut their pie holes.

When I was around 19, one of my buddies had a 65 Nova with open fenderwell headers and a built 327. He came to pick me up one Saturday night and as we were getting ready to leave the lady across the street ran to talk to us. "Hi boys. I have my 6mo old grand daughter at the house. I just got her to sleep after 2hrs of crying and I'm afraid you're going to wake her again." "Not a problem." We pushed the car about 200yds down the street before we fired it up. It's just being a good neighbor.
If the neighbor in question had approached the OP rationally and been polite I'm sure this thread wouldn't exist. It makes a big difference in how compliant you are likely to be.

Let's go down to the shop, out to the garage, over to the driveway, or under the tree and build a hot rod now.

People keep forgetting that as this rock gets more crowded we have to be more considerate. Imagine if the Japanese were as rude as this to each other - the west Pacific would be red with blood...
