We had a Vette guy that hung around the street race scene in the late 80s early 90s. He had a new ZR-1 with a few tricks in it. I had a nitrous equipped big block Camaro. One night while trying to get a race from him we drew a crowd. He parked right under the light in the lot and I was several cars away. I went up to see his latest trick whatever (hood was up of course) and was met with a very pleasent surprise. His girlfriend was exceedingly hot. Blonde, 5'7" or so, downright ***y. She was wearing a really tight knit dress, and lounging in the car while he did his gig. I sent him to check out my car because that dress was ALL she was wearing. And, right under the light, there was a perfect view of the promised land. She either didn't know or didn't care about the view from through the windshield. I certainly didn't mind. It left an impression. Sometimes a Vette Guy does ya a favor.

  6. I was thinking the same thing. If it weren't for Corvettes a lot of people on here wouldn't have motors for their Fords .. :D:D

OK.. I have both a Vette and a Mopar. Yes.. I'm not quite right. My wife will affirm that.

I have decided over the years that there are a lot of both Corvette and Mopar guys that I don't like to be around. I just don't fit in with a lot of them. It may be because I don't wear gold chains or I don't have the correct "H" wheels on my Roadrunner.. I don't know nor do I care.

I've owned a bunch of different cars over the years and I can honestly tell you that every group, be it Mopar.. Chevy... Street Rods.. whatever... has some guys that are posers and some guys that are really car guys. If you can't tell the difference after talking to them for 30 seconds... well... you ain't in the car guy group.

BTW, the Galen Govier deal baffles me. I met the guy years ago when he was selling parts in a Pontiac dealership in Wisconsin. He's a knowledgeable guy, but he's done a lot of damage to the hobby too. He has become the "guru" to the Barrett-Jackson crowd and a source of irritation to a lot of others.

Anyway... I decided a long time ago to not let how anyone else looks or talks bother me one way or another. If they want to wear gold chains and club jackets.. great. I don't really care. Its part of the hobby, like it or not. I just try to be nice to everyone and not worry about it. When I go to cruises or shows, I just look at the cars that I want to and talk to the people I want to. Its really all about having some fun and not worrying about the guy parked next to you.

What about the model car on the air cleaner.
He most likely didn't or couldn't build it either.
Don't forget the store bought sign in front telling you all he paid for and had someone install. Priceless

Vette Guy wants to be a car guy. He's the same guy you knew in school that tried to fit in by copying what he thought cool people were doing. Not every Corvette owner is Vette Guy - but, as I said before, you want to be Vette Guy's pal because he really wants to be you. You can influence Vette Guy to buy things to make him a car guy and when he finds another hobby to "identify" with, he'll sell you, his pal, the great car guy stuff for cheap.

Vette Guy is annoying - but can't we turn this to our advantage?

Gads, I hate to admit this, but back in the early 80's, I too was a Corvette guy....Sigh...I did the Vette show thing for a few years. Whichever one of you said its a car wash contest is totally correct. Most of those shows were inside malls back then. Do you know how many hours I spent in a mall, after hours, laying on my back, using a toothbrush to ArmorAll the insides of my tire treads?

I think about how much of my life I wasted over about a 4-5 yr. period doing that ****. All the trophies hit the **** can long ago. But I will say, I ran the hell out of my cars too! I had a 72', a 76' that was very m***aged, and later an 80' with all that Ecklers stuff on it, which was actually a nice driver. It was just a period in my life that worked at the time. I'd had a big block Mustang previous to that. Afterwards I did the Trans Am thing, and then my Dad and I started doing the hotrods not long after, with a bad*** 27' Ford roadster, a 29' pickup, a few dune buggies in between, and later a Crosley panel van, a big block Chevelle, and now my Duece. It's just a life progression I think, but I'm here to stay with hotrods man. It's a way of life, but then cars have always been a way of life with my family!

(One last upside of the Corvettes, and the fact that I was in my 20's at the time, they definitely attract some trim.......) :D

  13. our local vette guy also doubles at excessive monster boat guy , but all i have ever seen him cruisin the river with are other im suspecting vette guys..
so the **** extention thing must not be working , or of course hes gay!

    HAH!
the only time I have been truly afraid for my life was on an overbuilt cigarette boat.
I was afraid for 2 reasons.

#1-I can't swim. I am apparently, not very Boyant.
#2. My dad was driving it. which meant the chances I would need to swim were getting better by the second.

    150+ on land=cool!
150+ on water (especially in the gulf of Mexico)=REALLY NOT COOL.

The guy that owned the boat actually suggested we attempt to water ski behind it. I simply told him I had no need to feel the life experience of a rock skipping across a pond.

  15. Its not the cars guys, its the pinheads driving em, and that applies to ALL kinds of rides.

Its just that we like to "group" prople and this is an example of it.

For Vette Guy, or Viper Guy, or Mustang guy, or whatever guy you want to insert in here....

An ant & an elephant were walking thru the jungle one day when the elephant fell into a trappers hole & couldn't get out. He hollered to his friend the ant to help him get out of the hole. The ant runs to the nearest village & grabs a corvette & rushes back to the elephant. He ties a vine onto the elephants trunk & the other end to the vette, floors the vette & pulls the elephant out of the hole. " I'm indebted to you for life " said the elephant to the ant.

The next day the ant & elephant are again walking thru the jungle when the ant falls into a hole & can't get out. He hollers to his buddy the elephant to help him get out. The elephant stands over the hole & drops his wang into the hole, the ant climbs up the elephants wang & gets out of the hole.

The moral of the story, when you got a big ****, you don't need a corvette....

Thank You, I'm here all week, try the shrimp ****tail & don't forget to tip you bartenders & waitress.....

Most Vette guys are indeed pretty bad and Viper guys probably worse, but trust me, Studebaker truck guys are flat out total ***es and easily top'em all. Those guys are the worst. I know first hand!

    :D (speaking for myself anyway)

I'd like a '69 BB version, but I'd also like one of just about every car made. :D I could never be Vette Guy. I dig too many other makes and models of cars, I don't like gold chains, I wouldn't complain if I couldn't park my car in the front row, I'd NEVER wear a Members Only jacket with "VETTE" embroidered on the back, I wouldn't go to a cruise and just sit in a lawn chair behind my car all day, I'd compliment other cars, I wouldn't wear Corvette sungl***es or Corvette pants or Corvette shoes or a diamond ring with crossed flags in rubies, the door mat to my house wouldn't say Corvette, I'd never keep a mini California Car Duster in the glove box, I'd never say my Vette was the fastest car in the valley and my dogs name wouldn't be Duntov. Nope, I could never be Vette Guy, but I sure would own a '69 with a Big Block.:D

LOL, I became a "vette guy" 3 days ago. Perfect timing. It's the lamest vette ever, a 75, but a SUPER nice one at a price best described as theft.

It's crazy how much attention it gets for the lamest 165hp vette ever. It's also crazy how much I like it. Bought to flip but actually considering keeping. 10 days ago wouldn't have looked twice at one, but seat time is changing my mind.

Do I fit the stereotype? dunno. We took it cruising tonight with no dash or gauges and the loom laying in our laps. (what can I say, it's a new car on a beautiful day) I was hoping for a race, but no hyundais were taking. Maybe I'll get some headers and put a corrolla in it's crosshairs.

  28. Funny, my friend who's about 52 was telling me about back in the day... he was trying to screw the daughter of the local Ford dealer.. and got told he was an okay guy but didn't have enough money. So who does she end up with, some lumberjack guy from the bottom of the Adirondacks who happens to be driving a '58 Corvette.. back when you could pick up a running smoker or otherwise not perfect one for under $1000. Nice '57 Chevy wasn't good enough, but el-cheapo older Corvette I guess was that day's equivalent of "That's hot". No idea what dad thought about her dating a Chevy guy, though. I guess today her husband will nail anyone he gets a chance with, not worried about the marriage, so the gossip goes.

  29. LA Roadster show is next weekend. There are a number of those guys that will out **** the Corvette Guy any day.

Not all, and not the majority, but there will be some!

I like listening to their pompous BS as they stroll past.
