interesting, I was looking at the medals recieved by my relative and it looks like he was in the phillipines too in some manuever to do with MacArthur and at that time he was with Squadron MTB-3.

If you are ever down in Fredericksburg, Texas they have a great WW2 museum with a restored PT boat. They also have one of the packard engines on display.

My next door neighbor has an SS Helmet his Grandfather "picked up" in the European Theater.
After he had it Authenticated,He decided to keep it after running into all kinds of problems trying to donate/sell it.
    So am I wrong?
Not by what he went through.

Yes,SOME museums will take the stuff, but the caveat is,YOU NEED TO DO YOUR HOMEWORK ON WHERE IT ENDS UP.
Just because a "Museum/Collector" wants it,doesn't mean THEY are on the up and up....
When money is tight,SOME Museums sell off items they can't use and the Collector might be a "Middle Man",so there's no telling where the stuff will ultimately end up.

I find it outstanding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I also have world at war it has lots of both sides of the ocean fighting, its amazing the***** sank two brit ships
three days before Pearl Harbor ! three days but the brass in Washington wanted to check it out first but it happened on a thur and it was a three day weekend. lots of blame to go around. but the worse was the what happened to the crew and ships capt on the Indy. lots of brass should have been up on charges that day! Lots of brave men and woman
on all sides were lost. gods peace to all the lost.

the only existing WW II P T Boat left ,,in fulll battle gear ,,other than those three in the museums ,,belongs to the Sea Scouts in Seattle ,Wash ,,it was a training boat at the Brimerton ,Wash P T Boat Training Base ,,where my Dad took Torpedo training ,,,the one the Sea Scouts have never saw battle ,,,they also have six spare Packard Engines ,,still in the crates from the '40's
they've been offered a million bucks for their boat & spares ,,but refuse to sell,,

My grandfather was a machine gun squad leader in the Marines.

He never spoke about the war but hated Japanese cars (he also worked at GM).

After he died I came across a bunch of his stuff including his diary that he kept...he lived though some awful stuff.

He fought on Tulagi, Guadalcanal, Tarawa, Sipan, and Tinian.

from an aussie point of view, my granfather was stationed in singapore in '39,the***** came in hard and fast,he was in the engineers, singapore at that time was badly under defended,he was captured along with many thousands of aussie's and english.most were taken to changi prison camp.beheadings, malnutrition and subhuman conditions were the norm.many suffering malaria, berri berri and other insidious conditions.
i had the priviige of sharing time with him up until his death in '84.
my mum told me she didn't recognize him when he returned from war, a man 6 ft tall weighing 50 kg.
my father was in the middle east theatre, joined up at 16 years of age, i couldn't imagine what it was like for a 16 year old facing war.
THEY TRULY ARE THE GREATEST GENERATION.
btw,a lot of the pacific was filmed in my hometown and state, melbourne, victoria,my mate had his black 34 tudor in a couple of scenes.
