These men and women are truly heros. The hell they went through to protect our Nation. God Bless all Men and Women who serve then and now.

Nat Geo Channel is competing with shows about the technology of WW2.
Saw the recreation of the German Horten twin-jet stealth fighter and the
Japanese submarines built to launch bombers.

In each case, they got started too late to change the outcome.

I worked a Corn Maze for a friend I farmed with a few years ago. They knew a guy that had a bunch of old WWII tanks Half Tracks, etc.. We stopped an listened one night as the tank was squeaking through the woods. We couldn't help but talk about what the troops where thinking when they heard one coming. Hairs on our necks stood on end.

Really make you feel blessed that those guys were there for us. On piece they played was April 1943. I was a month old. God is keeping all of these guys in his arms and we are keeping them in our hearts. God bless ALL who have served.

  6. You know what beats the hell out of watching the History channel??
Go to the VFW (RSL here), get it from they who did, not they who interviewed!

    Doc.

  7. I can answer that, it scares that absolute crap out of you. The deep rumble of a modern tank and the squeal of the tracks is something I dont want to ever sit an listen to as it comes toward me in anger again.

Funny thing is, I couldn't help but think the tank engine had a great note! I just hoped they didn't find us!

I've been watching since it started. It has given me a better understanding as to why my Dad and Grandfather never talked of it.

Man...that was heavy. It hit me pretty hard- seeing the civiliains commit suicide with their kids on Saipan rather than surrender. All those tiny little dead bodies.

As the Dad of a 2-yr old I was affected.

As an honorably discharged Vet, I felt somewhat connected.

As an American, I was proud to see the dedication of our troops, and prouder still to see and hear how they never lost their heartfelt emotion over what had to be done.

As a modern citizen, I was amazed when I considered our current war has been going on twice as long as WWII.

Great series. Glad it was not censored for History Channel. Might have to get the DVD set on this one.

Not enough airplanes for me. Quite honestly, it has been a bit of a disappoint for me. Seems to be overly critical of US actions. I know lots of mistakes were made by us, but this show seems to spend a lot of time on them-the neep tide at Tarawa, (a big deal that wasn't explained very well), and Operation Cobra ( I think) where b-17s were used to try and bomb a hole in German lines, caused blue on blue casualties, (100 men). Also, pretty disjointed. BUT all the respect in the world for the vets-my uncle fought from Normandy through the boucage, (sp) got wounded times and finally got captured. I think the show's presentation of the material is very poor. But I still watch it.
