Not much going on with the truck this week, waiting on parts. So today I installed new rear brake lines and flex hose to the frame mount. Then I caulked the underside of the C Notch before primer coat.

I finished up the bed and shocks today as well as finished the new break lines. Just need to bleed them. I got an e mail from the cam grinder today and he has the profile done and it's ready to be ground. Hope to have it back early next week.

20220305_150201.jpg 20220305_150236.jpg This is the modified stance for the new improved Virginia H.A.M.B Special
Hopefully with this and the revised engine program we will record this project.
Speaking of records team 640 has set personal best speeds every year we have gone to Bonneville.
The crew and our support team are all that keeps this dream alive.
And when we record this truck it will be with a much smaller engine and bigger truck than the current record holder by far.
Thanks to the crew and support team we are able to keep chasing the dream.
Thanks to all we charge onward with great hope and pride.
    Thank you everyone...

Just looking at fuel cost as if we were going to Arkansas today.
    1.750 miles round trip at 8 mpg × $5.79 per gal.=
$1.266.56 dollars just for fuel not to mention entry fee's, lodging, food, race gas, etc.
You might just say I ain't none to happy about dis ****.
I guess I better get my *** to work on funding.
    Holly **** bat man..

And if we left today to Bonneville.
    4400miles at 8 mpg.
    At $5.79 per Gal. =
$3,184.50 just for fuel there and back. And we usually burn 2 or 3 tanks at Bonneville running around.
Not to Happy bout dis $&#%. Hard on a poor boys pocket for sure..
And I'm sure it's going to go up even higher by then

Back to waiting on engine parts again ..
I broke the cam retaining plate and had to order another one. Everything seams to go wrong when you have a deadline to meet..

Interesting. I was not aware you could use an early valve cover on a late head. John, is that "halo" around the rockers for oiling?

NASCAR racers use them to cool the valve springs to prevent fatigue.

I have to use double gaskets to use this valve cover and yes the tube above the rockers is for oiling the top end.

I picked up the header that Dave Russell modified to clear the tye rod. Took it to Jimmy's and gl*** beaded it then on to my shop for VHT ceramic coating.

It looks like you've switched out to a more efficient looking collector. That will be a good step toward a more efficient system which may ultimately lead you to merge collectors.
