Well you ever have a reacuring prob. that is gone after you work on as many things as You thought it was ?? Forist for the trees, kind of thing type! So I"d be driving along an like I turned the key off ,but didn't ! It would stop. Hunted a bad contact every were,I thought. Each time I had gone over all the wires,it ran again. So Though I fixed it/nope...But it would happen a few weeks later too. Turned out old age had got to something that didn't seem to need renewing. The 12volt/6volt wire coming from coil to the dizzy,on early Ys,goes to a nice nut n stud/that then goes through a fiber drum an into the inside/another fiber washer an nut holds point lead wire. So the fibber washer on inside of dizzy had got to were i,if I hit a bump just right. That let the power to point short{ acting like point are close all the time/so no more spark=coil gets hot if I keeped trying to start it.<< that an a test light proved it out. Things can drive ya a little crazy, the simplist stuff tell you work it out. I clean up all of it an made new inside washers/3 this time, added all were old rag out one was, from a black plastic oil can. By using 3 washer,it should be EZ too spot if they get out of place. A photo of old wiped out inter washer/stock Ford
