Tax season's coming up. I'd like to put some cash into my truck. I put an older 292 Y block 3 or 4 months ago, but my buddy I got it from said it had some miles on it. Compression's good, 130 or so across the board. Doesn't smoke or anything, never goes past 180 degrees or overheats. Just leaks pretty good.

I'm not saying this is a bad motor, I just don't what else to compare it too. I had a straight six in there previously. Its an improvement, just not much.

I'm running an Edelbrock 1406 on the stock 2 barrel intake, with an adapter of course. Patriot headers. Pertronix electronic ignition, MSD Blaster 2 coil. 12 volt. T-98 4 speed. 1958 Ford F100.

I suppose I'm looking to rebuild just to see how much I can squeeze out of this thing. Or is it possible I'm being approximately stupid as fuck? Hell, maybe I'm being bottlenecked by a 2 barrel intake. I dunno. I'd like to go through a shop that is familiar with Y blocks. I'm located in Bakersfield, CA, so somewhere close wouldn't be bad.
