I want to get away from my crossover pipe and rub true duals out of lake pipes. I have access to an old salvage yard with alot of old Fords. Are there any stock manifolds I can ****** that fit on my 54 239 heads? Looking for an easy swap if it is possible.

The problem is the exhaust after the manifolds. If you've got a stick car, then you've got a problem, on a ford-o-matic equipped car then you can just remove that heat shield (I think there is one there. Someone already took mine off...)

If you get a creative exhaust guy, then the clutch linkage isn't a problem with a stick car, you may want to consider just using the lakes as a cut out, and run duals out back, with or without mufflers I guess.

The '55 manifolds are the ones that work "best" for your application, any of them will work though. If you go with a 292 (I ***ume you will eventually) then the big exhaust manifolds are the way to go.

All in all it isn't a hard swap, the back bolt is a mofo though, so you may want to use a header bolt and already have it in place when you put your manifolds on. Just an idea.

Sorry Greaser815, not trying to steal your thread. I'm lookin for dual exhaust too... Crestline, what do you mean exactly by the big exhaust mainfolds for the 292? I have a 292 with a 3 speed and I would also like dual exhaust. Please let me know.

On a stick car, all you have to do is replace the Z bar (cross bar) for the clutch with a 55 or 56 unit. The 55/56 has a dip in it, where the 54 is straight across. That is what I did with my 54 when I converted it from auto to stick. As far as an automatic car is concerned, the neutral safety switch is in the way if using stock manifolds.

There are a couple of designs. You want the sedan manifolds, not the TBird ones as the TBird ones are different on the left side and I think there are clearance problems with them. Besides they cost an arm and a leg.

I've got some sets of manifolds laying around. Can probably put together a good set for you at a fair price.
