Y-Block fuel pump flow

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by mytlo56, Oct 4, 2003.

  1. Howdy all. I'm wondering what the flow rate in PSI's would be on a stock replacement mechanical Y-Block fuel pump?

As I'm sure many of you have read, I'm building a gas injection flame thrower for my 56 Vic. I have come across a diagram that claims that you are able to run a t fitting from near your fuel pump directly to the solenoids that direct fuel to the nozzles at the tips of your exhaust.

I'm having a hard time believing that the same pump that is flowing to my carb could simultaneously create enough flow to get a good spray from the nozzles, especially being mechanical & likely low flow.

    Thoughts everyone...

Since the pre 57 Y still used the Holley 94 style carb pressure was limited to around 3# max.

286, are the later pumps better and did they change the mounting flange from 55-62?
