I have a 1955 F250. Pulled engine and placed a 1954 car engine in. Did the changes, but found out that the pulley is different, not only the belt grooves, but the 54 engine has two small bolts in it and my 55 engine only has a single big bolt. Will that be a problem for the 55 pulley to be placed on the 54 engine? Thanks for all replies! Chris

Dont know for sure about the balancer question, but just so you know if the 54 car engine was original to the 54 ford car you got it from and not swapped out somewhere in its lifetime to a 272,292,312 ......you will have a 239 y block which was the first year and only year ford came out with that engine and it is a smaller engine then the later y-blocks like the one you had in your truck and alot of the parts wont interchange, i found this out when i upgraded my 239 up to a 272....so basically you just down graded if it is a 239 y-block and harder to find parts for...just wanted to let you know

239 might be relatively weak for that truck...but if it works, do it! I also believe that the balancers for the '54 engines (239+256) we're different than the '55 and later y blocks.
