I have a 4bbl intake for a y block i want to install on my 292 can i trash the teapot 4bbl and go with what i know Holley 4bbl 600 cfm> Is the teapot a good carb? Thanks Mike
I'm looking at making a manifold because they are getting too expensive for me and a little hard to find for the Y-Blocks...
The teapot aka "Flaming toilet" can be a good Carb IF and mean IF you can find someone that knows how to restore one, there is a guy here that does:http://fordbarn.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=5 If you go the adapter route a Holley R1848 or Edelbrock 500 CFM works about best on a Y-Block.
You can find an adaptor but the later '57 and up "B" intake is a better flowing manifold. As a mater of fact just go with a later 2 barrel, they work great.
You don't have to run a teapot on the '55-'56 manifolds; Rochester, Carter, and Stromberg 4 bbl carbs from early Olds, Cadillac, Buick, and Chrysler V8s will bolt right on.
