Im looking for some technical info on a 292, so any Y-Block guys that can help please chime in. So, Im looking for a 4 bbl intake for my 59 F100. im wondering why the ECZ-9425-A is so readily available? I also know that the ECZ-9425-B is the most desirable 4 bbl. So whats the difference, will the A except a typical 4 bbl carb 4 bolt flange? Is their any reason to not get the A?
The 'A' intake is the small flange for the Holley teapot. Will also accept some WCFB, but not the "modern" Holley 4150/4160 four barrel. Also the ports are smaller. the only people who real want the early intake are restorers needing to make a car 'correct'. You are much better off with the 'B' intake.
Cost comes from availablity the b manifold was a 1957 312 deal although some 292 big trucks most will have a governer flanged for the late carb.
The "B" intake is a better match for your ports, they are getting pricey as of late around $200 on evil bay, you might try these guys http://www.bigmauto.com/ They have a lot of 50's Fords.
Another option is the Blue Thunder aluminum intake. I have one on my T-Bird. You are close enough if you want to come by and have a look at it.
Thanks for the help everyone. Thunderroad312- thts the exact answer I was looking for. thanks very much.
