I have a simple question about a Y block Standard transmission used in a CAR: what is the length of the input shaft? Put another way in a car/y block, how far does the input stick out in relation to the transmission mounting surface?

I have a car bell housing and believe truck bell housings are different.

Thank you in advance. My apologies on the "Please"

there are 2 truck bellhousings, 1 for the truck 4 speed and 1 for the car type 3 speed.

there are mounts on the truck bellhousing for where it sits on a crossmember.

if your bellhousing does not have these it would be a car bellhousing

this is a truck bellhousing for the truck 4 speed, it is deeper than the 3 speed and has a different bolt pattern for the transmission

So,the truck 3speed and car 3speed,don't have different input shafts? I was told the truck is bigger diameter and also an inch longer

Car 3 - speed is 6 1/8 from trans case to end of head gear.

Truck head gear would be bigger in diameter (larger clutch****embly) not sure about truck head gear length.

    Thank you!

Just for addition information: what is the length of the part of the shaft that's turned down and goes into the pilot bearing?
