Has anyone put y block valve covers on a small block Ford? I'm gonna make adaptor plates but not sure how to hook up PVC or breather. There are no holes in valve covers.I would appreciate any info. Thanks.
There have been countless PCV threads on here. Do a search and check 'em out for ideas. By the way PVC is a plastic derivative for plumbing applications.
It's been done with limited amounts of success.... As you note, connecting a crankcase ventilation system or even a oil fill point is an issue. Best bet is finding a '62-63 221-260 front timing cover as these have a oil fill/breather mounted on them. The '64-65 front cover is cast for the oil fill tube but the tube isn't fitted. Downside is both of these can only use the matching '62-65 water pump with the p***enger side outlet and they're all getting hard to find. Ford installed the PCV valve in the rear of the intake manifold on the '62-63 motors, but found that the location contributed to excessive oil use which is why it got moved to the valve cover. If using a later timing cover, using an accessory breather on the valve cover is about as good as you can do and you may be able to somehow connect the PCV to it. Most owners are removing a valve cover to add/change oil.
I posted the same question earlier this year. HRP http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/y-block-valve-cover-adapters.966123/#post-10878102
Every time this question pops up I post this: http://www.hotrod.com/how-to/engine/1212cct-cl***ic-y-block-covers/ There are also several threads on here with other solutions as previously mentioned. I went the better way and decided to add the Y block to my Y block valve covers
