Alright! Finally some good news on the same night I read about that Poncho getting stolen during Back to the Fifties. Congrats Dave, so happy you're getting your roadster back.

    Kick Ass!

its about time one of these comes back home.!!!!
    so glad to hear it!
did they catch the thief too? or just get the car?
    either way thats great!
would be icing on the cake if they caught the jerkoffs too..lower the possibility of them going after more cars.

It turned up in SE PA in relatively good condition -it was not wrecked and it still runs/ drives (well it hasn't been on the road - no tags). It is currently in storage waiting for the ok from the insurance to fix what needs done. I still don't have many details on the recovery except that I believe it NEVER would have happened without the high profile created by the hotrod community and the massive attention from the HAMB. Apparently so many people were looking that whoever ended up with it felt compelled to turn it over. Hopefully this kind of interest from the HAMB and the hotrod world in general can help recover more cars and lead to a great reduction in this happening. I know someone said that it must feel horrible to have this happen, it does and believe me, for people like us who do so much ourselves it's a terrible feeling to be so helpless and able to do very little. This could have never happened without all of you. I will post more details soon.

    Thank you

    Sincerely,

    Yankee Dave (and Kitty)

WOW, I'm really happy for you, especially when it was found a long ways from home. Good for you!

I also got a long funny (now) story about my stolen Jeep.
The short version is the cops were looking for it, And the guy who took it tought is was such a POS that he fiqured I needed it more than him. So he called 411, got my phone #, cause my name and address was on the registration. So he calls me up and asks if I want it back, I said OK, he tells me where it is, in a high class residential nieborhood, and says he left it parkd there 3 days ago figuring the cops would find it. They didn't and he called me to come and rescue it.

Gotta love the local police in NJ.

Well done!!! So happy for you. The HAMB is SO much more than just a bunch of Motor Heads. It is a caring (and sometimes a little fucked up) "family." (as I well know!) So many people stepping up to help. Glad to hear your GREAT news...

as you know I have been watching this thread intently

the fact that the car was "located" in S.E. PA is too close for comfort..

hopefully soon you can shed some light on the individuals responsible for this theft.
