Projects Yankee mike's ardun 32 ford 3 window coupe

Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by yankee mike, Jan 14, 2014.

  1. Well I'm not much on doing build threads or showing what comes out of my garage but several HAMB buddies have given me hell so here we go.
I am a stickler for period hotrods (model t-1940 fords) from the 40's and early 50's. I've been drawn to this look since i was very young and have stuck to it to the point of no return.
With all that said I am starting with what was a old channeled unchopped 32 3 window that was a drag car in the Florida in the mid 60's. The body was purchased at the Turkey run in the mid 80's and was getting the full on ''street rod '' treatment. The project stopped when the owners wife passed and it sat in his basement up until about 2 years ago.
I purchased the car and sold all the street rod crap and was left with just the necessities. Soon after i purchased a very very low mileage orig running chassis for my soon to be next hot rod.
My goal is to build a period correct early 50's era hot rod. Plans include ardun flathead, 39 trans, quick change rear. Unchopped ,full fender car. early s/w gauges, banjo wheel, etc.

I assume that there will be a "bitchin" firewall for sale in the classifieds soon. it definitely does not suit your period theme.

Congrats on acquiring some excellent parts to start your build. You've got your main ingredients right there and they appear to be top class. I assume the previous owner did all the hard work of un-channelling the body.

  13. Unfortunately the un- channeling was not done right at all. :( The body is going to need some definite help. Its getting all new brookville floors and full length sub rails. The roof was also filled and was done completely wrong. A original firewall also of course :)

This is going to be a nice build to follow, sounds a lot like the ARDUN powered 3Window the late Mike Hart built. Bob

Thank god your buddies were grinding on you to do build thread, looks awesome so far. These builds with rare parts that most of us will never see let alone own, are awesome. The build for me is best part , all the fabrication work is the time when I get the 'shock' value out of a build, because of the journey not necessary the final destination , thanks for sharing, subscribed

    This ought to be good.

  20. Neat! I like the chassis. looks very complete and untouched. Not to often do you see a banger on rails like that. Love to see how it all goes.

Mike, Do you mind taking detail photos of your chassis?

I am putting together a chassis with original '32 crossmembers and repro rails, and I'd like to get it close to stock.

Please let me know if you are willing to shoot photos and either send them or post them here or elsewhere. A great place would be in the "traditional frames" thread.
