I'm finally doing the interior finish work on the Yard Art Rod. I would post some pics but I forgot how to do it again..... Take a peek if interested in my Yard Art album. Go ahead Eric... give me a bad time for my bad memory!!!!
man looking good, i just traded a jazzy wheel chair for a model a cowl. gona build me a roadster pickup. the wife has been hinting about wanting a convertable. so i told her id build her one of her own. i dont think she is as excited as i am, lol.
I don't think that I have as much fun building a car as this one! I have a buddy that is starting one after helping me on a few occasions.... he now has the 'bug".
Here they are, it's really looking good. You obviously spend too much time on your cars and not enough time on the computer.
Looking very good, Geno! Now...could you back off a few steps so we can get an overall view? I bet that thing will really rock 'n' roll with that big 6! More pix, please!
I'll get some pics of the car finished and get them posted. Should be done this week if all goes well. I need someone that can sync the carbs, any takers? I tried it..... well..... I need a pro! There are recent pics of the engine in my album too... a little help here stig?
You'll need a Uni-Syn to synchronize the carbs, Geno. This tool allows you to equalize the idle vacuum (vacuum draw through the carb throat, not the manifold vacuum) of both carbs by adjusting the idle speed adjustment screws, but they are of limited utility when it comes to getting the mixture right. To get the idle mixture right, I'd adjust each carb separately, with the other one blocked off so it will draw no air - a tennis ball might work, or duct tape. Get the engine to idle smoothly on the rear carb alone, then on the front carb alone. Then use the Uni-Syn to equalize the vacuum draw of both carbs, backing off the idle speed screws to get the idle speed to a proper level. You might run into off-idle stumble, but adjusting accelerator pump shot or adjusting the linkage to cause the carbs to open (come off idle) one-after-the-other (slightly) will probably minimize this problem. These minor drivability problems are often absorbed by an automatic transmission, but will be very apparent with a stick. Good luck!
Eric..... You're hired..... meet you at the airport! Puttin on the top material this weekend and finishing the back doors and some minor do-dads here and there will finish it!
Thanks Stig!!! I just got the fan shroud done today.... Used 5 old licence plates to hide the electric fan. I've used old rusty wrenches everywhere to hold fuel/brake/electrical lines where visable. Making licence plate frame from wrences and used wrences to hold rear bumper on. Salt shakers for the front turn signal lens. I really cleaned out the attic on this car!
