    Hello,
Did the YBlock ever come with a rear pick up sump? My '53 F100 has a 292 Y and a planned clip swap may cause some sump clearance issues. I am wondering if my search for a rear sump pan is realistic. Thanks.

Seems to me that the Thunderbird pans were either rear or center sump.

I've got some pics of Y pan surgery for installation into a '40...my impression is that even the rear sump pan was a bit porky up front. The pics go through slicing off a regular pan, reversing it, then performing considerable extra surgery to give more front clearance. Block of course goes way down, then the pump, so the front is deep at best.

The 272 thats in my '48 Ford is out of a '57 F100 and is a rear sump pan. Its in there with no cutting on the oil pan. I have an old article where they put a Y-block in a 40 coupe and they had to cut the from couple of inches of the pan, flip the front corner 180 degrees and weld it back in. I'm pretty sure the '62 292 Y-block motor I got out of an old COE/Firetruck is also a rear sump pan.

Call Mummert (Y-block.com) and see if he's got a rear sump pan laying around.
