Over the last couple of years I've been blessed to meet a bunch of new friends through this site and the car shows that I hit all year round throughout the midwest. One of the folks that I was lucky enough to cross paths with and I'm honored to say I'm a friend of (but honestly I don't think this guy knows an enemy) is the H.A.M.B.'s own yblock292, Jack Marinelli.

In preparation for an upcoming do***entary that I'm wanting to film it was decided that some video filming and editing practice may be a good thing. A phone call to Jack later and the date was set to hear the story of the 29 and shoot some video and stills of her. ****o51 and I rolled south to Jack's joint on a warm and sunny New Year's Eve day to capture this kool piece of hot rod history.

The car that we were talking about for this practice video run is Jack's 29 Roadster on 32 rails. Built as a hot rod in the mid 50's with a 46 flattie, the car has never been apart, never been modified in any major way since it's build. The car came into Jack's possession after a trip to the H.A.M.B. Drags and Springfield Swap Meet in 2003.

Hear the whole story in the video below (approx. 7 min). Click here to see the video larger or to see all of the stills. This is still somewhat of a rough draft but I hope you enjoy it!

Here's some stills that I captured that day, beautiful low 60's and sunny on NYE day in KS, it doesn't get much better than that!

Thanks, Jack is a great guy with a very kool collection and a hell of a builder!

Yeah I have to just settle for rides in other people's hot rods for now, and enjoy drives in the Galaxie whenever I can!

Thanks a ton! I am hoping to have a full feature length do***entary filmed and well into the editing process by year's end, stay tuned!

Do you have any idea how long it took to edit out all of the times someone opened a beer? Hours of audio lost, hours I'm telling you!

Very kind words brother! Thanks! I may make it up to Omaha for the World of Wheels it's on my schedule for sure!

Thanks to Travis for doing all this, What a great job with the video and what a good time we had doing it. It was fun telling the story of the 29, i love the car, and me and my gal even took her out on new years day for nice "chilly" ride. Travis you did a great job with this, especially what you had to work with!
    Thanks again, Jack

After receiving some constructive criticism I'm remixing the audio, I should have done it earlier but I was in a hurry and rushed the process. With any luck the updated will replace the version I have up now automatically.

Travis you did a great job on the video. Did you use two or three cameras? And thanks for choosing Jack for the video. I thought I knew the car but that is a really neat "backstory" which I never knew.

Great work, Travis! ...and of course, a great old Hot Rod and story behind it.

Thanks folks! I did use 2 cameras a Canon Vixia HF G10 and a GoPro Hero2 (that's the fisheye'd one). Learned a lot in this practice process and I may do another this weekend if I can talk a local car owner/builder into it. However this one will not be H.A.M.B. friendly so I won't post it here.

Hoping to keep improving my skillset so that the car show coverage keeps getting better and better for all of you and maybe some day I can find a viable option for funding the whole deal by selling DVDs or online videos, but for now I'm having a blast learning and hanging out with my hot rod/kustom buddies!

Back to the day job, talk at you all later!

    Travis

  27. Every time I go out to Jack's place I get what you see in the video. It's almost an experience you should have to pay admission for....except usually you get a free beer or two out of the deal.

The 29 is an amazing car. And if anybody wondered....it's not for sale (I already asked...and I call dibs if he changes his mind).
