Thanks for letting me borrow your stop light idea. We will get the trucks together this summer for a burger and a photo.

You are not alone. I didn't sleep well last night. I think I'll take a theraflu and go to bed early tonight.

This is why I don't like flying on a plane or dating blondes. No control! I have trust issues man!

  7. Mark, I know Mitch and his work well enough to say that anyone with good taste will not be disappointed. The only thing he and I have in common is that we don't think like normal people. In his case that's a wonderful thing, for me, well the Joury is still out.

I am in the same camp! Talking to Mitch he had a pretty good idea I think of what he was going to do. The truck is busy, and complicated. There is a lot going on. I would not know where to start on the striping. I am glad he does.

I would love that too. Maybe someone there can shoot a little video and send to me of Mitch working on the truck. I know several are watching the thread.
I am too far away to drop by unfortunately. I wouldn't want to see it till it is done anyway.

One obstacle Mitch ran into right away while looking the truck over was my stop light. I didn't think about it. He cant get behind it to stripe! And I can't just unbolt it, I installed it when the bed was off. I could likely unbolt it but I would never get the nuts back on, and definitely not at his shop. He was coming up with some cool ideas to work with it. The light will definitely be integrated into the stripe design.

Beautiful shine on the truck! It's hard to believe that's paint.

  14. How about you let Mitch remove the light and you bring it to me and I'll weld the nuts on the bracket. Then you can just install the bolts without fighting the nuts and washers?

Thanks. It is the blackest vehicle I have ever see. The color mix had no brown or yellow in it (most do oddly). My polisher said there where spots on those round front fenders that he could actually see through the clear to the base coat. He said it was one of the deepest shines he has seen. He want to ceramic coat it after the stripes are on it.

Because they are carriage bolts. If you weld the nuts on, that's no bueno!

I named the truck Firedome Fortyone for the Desoto engine and emblems I used. It is also on the show sign.

  21. This just goes to show less is more. Once again Mitch knows what he's doing. Well done my friend! and not overdone.

  22. Can't tell from the pictures, did he "tip" the louvers on the panel between bed and running board?

Yep, he said tipping those make the truck faster.
It fits the era, Mitch liked it, I liked it and most importantly my wife liked it! She told Mitch she didn't want louvers, he said its a hot rod, it's a must.

  24. I really like the red outline on the tailgate, hmmm....red carried onto the louver tips also , tying it all in....just a thought.
Glad you're both happy with the way it came out.

My wife chose the red because of the tail lights and the stop light. She thought the red made sense, I cannot fault her.

Thank you very much! It was a fun ride
