Or past...already one up on ya

The problem being is that she can't drive a manual transmission. So it if has a clutch, the cats out of the bag.

I did put a 'His and Hurst' in the 442. I used the rational that it was better for both of us.

Of course I told her that the super charger on the roadster would net better mileage. But to be honest, I didn't say fuel economy, and it has seen better mileage than most flatheads. At least miles per hour!

It's not that I lie. I just find the truth so...limiting.

Those little spot lights helped a ton in the display and the warm tone of the light is a lot better than the harsh white/ blue I would have expected from led

Those lights have an infinite color selection and brightness, all for $33 for 2 lights. Cheap. They have clamps and 6 foot cords. Amazon free delivery. No brainer. I tried different colors and while the blue looked good under the hood, it made the interior look like a vegas chicken ranch. The soft white light was old school and added to the look I thought.

Looks great bandit! A real nice display! I hope to see it in person some day. I'll be sure to wear my sun glasses. All that bling could blind a normal person :D.

Looks great man! If I could just criticize one thing it would be how far off the rear the bumper sits. I never noticed it before and for some reason jumped out of me in the show pics.

  10. Truck looks great all setup, still bummed I wont make the show this year, but taking my C10 down south for their little indoor show instead, but you should do well. I am curious what class they stick you in.

BB, you've set the bar very high for what can be achieved by the home builder. Or the professional shop builder for that matter!
You have shown qualities that are extremely rare in today's world. Patience, and willingness to put in the work, time, as well as resources, and an UNWILLINGNESS to settle for good enough.
    Outstanding sir!

I know, you aren't the only one to notice. I think so many trucks have had their bumpers bobbed off that a stock one looks out of place. I thought about cutting down those irons last week but that means cutting off the pipes and re flaring them. Too much before the show. But I am considering it when it comes home. Your criticism is warranted and noted.

From what I saw yesterday, it looks like a good show this year. Sorry you won't make it. I have no idea what class they'll stick it in. Anxious myself to find out.

    Thanks Mike. I appreciate it!
Great compliment, it means a lot. it makes me want to build something new.

I’d sit it on the ground outside where I could really look at it before I mess with the bumper. Also make sure those bumper guards won’t interfere with a dropped tail gate.

I kinda dig it as is but I get the pondering.

oh, and maybe I missed it but how does that chrome surround stay on the back window?

I didn't get the window surround back until late Tuesday so I didn't have time to get too tricky on mounting. I used 3M double sided tape for now. @Pist-n-Broke has an idea that may have me remaking the piece to be more petite, more like the windshield frame. Like you said, it's new to me and I need to do some pondering on it...and that bumper. You are right, I can't have the bumper go up and that complicates the shortening of those brackets or those guards and my plate frame are going to make contact with the open gate.

If I had mirrors under my cars they would act as drip pans.

  17. Hit it out of the stadium Mr. Bill. Definitely magazine material, just don't have any greasy bodies sliding off the fenders.
Once upon a time a buddy & I drove down to Vegas to do a car show. We asked if we could park our cars overnight in the valet parking in front of the hotel for security & not have viewers touching or messing with our cars. My friend gives the valet guy $50.00 to specially watch his chopped 48 chevy Fleetline with a BBC & my 32 roadster that we drove. We go to our rooms & his wife goes back down only to find some bimbo setting on the front fender of her car posing for pictures. Valet is nowhere to be found. Some serious words were spoken. I cancelled my subscription to a hotrod mag when they started having female models with the cars. I'll buy playboy if I want to view females in bathing suits. Ok rant over now back to the show. Beautiful truck & I hope that you are happy with all the hard work that you & your bride put forth. Go forward & git er dun!

That may make a cool display, drip pans and kitty litter. Maybe a couple of empty beer cans and dirty red rags.

Great rant! You obviously don't buy many Playboys as they have been out of production for some time now. And yes, I had some bimbo crawl onto the hood of one of my Bandit cars without her shirt on for a pic, would have been nice of her to take her belt buckle off as well. left a couple of scratches in my screaming chicken.

So after perusing this thread again, I never did find anything about how you did the exhaust. How did you end up bending it, type of stainless etc? Did I miss that? I saw where in one post you had no exhaust and the next, they were done.

The barber shop where I go for my monthly shearing has a rack in the waiting area of 1960's Playboy Mags. I love looking through them, import sports car ads, Hi Karate cologne, component stereos systems, car 4 track players, reverbs, zippos, smokes and scotch, all the stuff needed to make you into the perfect gentleman. They weren't just girlie magazines, they celebrated what it was to be a man.

Smoked corn silk, aged cider & blackberry juice, rhubarb wine, them cow mooos reverbed thru the barn rafters, & there is no way to get the cow shit smell off your clothes, Kubota, Mahindra & a cutdown Ford model A w/2nd reverse tranny & truck tires got the job done.

Great job on the pickup. I saw it yesterday late afternoon at the show. Display looked great, lighting was great, pinstripes looked great.

Did you hide the modern fuel delivery behind a Holley 4160 float bowl? I was trying to get a better look at the show but that was all I could surmise. If that’s the case, that’s a neat detail! I gotta say though, I think the door panels are my favorite part.

On the rear bumper, that’s a bit of an optical illusion with it being displayed off the ground- once down on the pavement I don’t think it would look like it was sticking too far out there.

Thank you for the compliments. Stuff online can look different than when you are standing there staring at it. No photo shop, no editing, no best side, etc. It is what it is. Glad you liked it.

So what's next for the truck? More indoor shows or road miles?

Well, first off it needs new side glass in both doors. To add to my pre-car show anxiety, when I went to roll up the windows they were both broken. It seems neither I or my installer installed window stops in the doors. The glass fell to the bottom and cracked when closing the door or jittering about. I was a hot mess (to coin the current vernacular) but had no choice but to show it as is with the windows down. You lose points for that but I did crest them in the window openings so the tops could be seen.

Anyway, I got two new glass stops, new side glass (tempered this time) and a new felt channel since the tempered glass is slightly thinner. Then I get to reinstall the door panels...again.

I look forward to working the bugs out of it. I don't think there are many, but I am sure they are there waiting to be revealed. The last thing I want is to have something go wrong while my wife is driving it, or she will become scared of driving it further. I know it is safe, but I need to know if it will overheat, if the brakes fade, you know the drill.

Spring is here and time to go to some events and show it off. My wife said the other day she is looking forward to driving it. That pleases me.

  28. I'm looking forward to seeing it roll up my driveway, I don't care who is behind the wheel! Well, as long as it's You or your Wife.

Congrats on the many milestones including this crowning touch...showing it...I'm in and out here lately...but I will catch up with what you've been up to...cheers Bandit...I'm sure Mrs. Bandit is pretty moved by the 4 wheeled diamond you built for her as you've eluded...thanks for sharing the journey, and I look forward to the few details you are ironing out to complete the work of rolling art that rumbles...;)
