After sitting the the ratcave for over a year my boy Randy finally kicked my ass into busting out the brakes on the Chevy. We finished installing the brake line kit and master cylinder today, hooked it all up, bled it and fixed a bunch of leaks and finally DROVE IT. Uhh actually we jury rigged a gas can in the front by the rad as the tank still needs to go in but it moved, and pretty damn well to for a 216 that sat for 19 years in a shed.
on the ground and almost ready to roll.....I can't thanks Randy enough for coming down and busting ass on this with me, he pushed me to get this thing going and after we grabbed some grub we came back, checked the brakes again and pulled the battery from the Hudson (6volt battery that held a charge a minor miracle!) cranked it over and it fired right up, I AM FUCKING EH STOKED RIGHT NOW!!!!
Yorg that would be posuer nation, man I got my Posuer pride on and aint no one gonna take it from me...
almost out of the garage, we cruised it around for a few blocks and other than blowing a head light and being limited by the tiny gas can rigged up it was a great first ride, now tomorrow it gets a much needed wash and some fine tuning, sorry I'm being kinda punchy in these posts but I have been pretty much busting ass on the car for 5 days straight damn near 24 hours a day. this is what its about though, man when we got in that car and it ran and we were just blown away by how good it was I felt like it was fucking Christmas and I had hit pay dirt under the tree...
Lookin good, Ratboy. Now, live up to your HAMB handle and slide a big-block in the hole.... after you enjoy the car with the 216 for awhile. I got a 389 poncho to replace the flathead 6 in my 41 poncho after this summer but I'll run the 6 popper for one season. That 52 has a really nice, straight body.
Out terrorizing the fine citizens of PG again, eh Tedward? Too bad for them, but you know what they say: "You can take the boy out of the trailer park, but..." Glad to see the car is rolling. Speaking of 6 volt batteries, there was a 6 volt battery charger in my garage when I moved into my house. I'll never use it, so if you remind me, I'll bring it to work and it's yours. Might help those 6 volt batteries hold a charge... I've got a friend with season tickets in Oakland, so as soon as football season starts up again, we should roll that Chebbie up there for some Raider Nation tail-gate partying!
Slazzen going to leave this ones roof stock, I think the longer roofed two door sedans look good chopped but the coupes look kinda funky. Its going to get lowered and thats about it. Hmmm Rat motor would be fun butI kinda dig the 216. Here it is finally washed and ready to roll to a Raiders game (NOT!) Probably going to do the rook in purple flake...
Speaking of General GAYNESS, here is Ted & his "friend" Roman "ADJUSTING" the Lokar shifter in my Cadillac. GAY. GAY. GAY. -r
Ineed a haircut and a cold shower....you need to adjust that shifter! Randy can "blow" kustom tail light lenses!
A pic of the finished tailights on my CAD. I'm pretty happy with 'em. Blew the lenses outta plexi. -r
"Old timey day" (TM) at my house, we were playing old timey music etc.. had some crappy food & it was just like our very own cruise night!!
Congrats!! It sure feels good to get them off the jack stands and out in the street doesn't it. Just in time for some summer fun. Frank
Great news Ted....now all it needs is a good long run down the coast!! you know you want to... Just remind you of some fun you had here last year at Hemsby, we'll be there on thursday having several beers for ya.
Hey Kev Cool pics,I've only seen the one of me "preaching" on the beach before. Looks like I'll be going to Paso as I got the time off work but am not sure if the Chevy will be there as it still has some "bugs" to be worked out. Man it sure felt good to drive it though and what a difference putting the new wheels and tires on made (that actually got me remotivated on the car!)
i wish you guys woul've told me you were gonna have a thrash session on the car,i miss out on all the fun
George sorry man I did not know how far we werre gonna go, Randy is a hyperactive little bastard and always pushes me futher along than I would normally go. I just found my sending unit so next thing is to finish fixing up the gastank and put it back in then give the thing some road time and see what happens. There is still plenty to do on the front end etc.. And the Hudson is waiting in the wings so once I get some more cash flow there will be plenty to help thrash on.....Randy needs help on his motor now anyway..
