Funny I just found this thread, big thanks to David for picking it up and storing it at his place. Can't wait to get her home to Texas, title work is all but finished so it wont be long now. We bought this for my wife, plans call for my old 64 Vette 327 built to the hilt with a 700r4 behind it for long haul trips as we hope to take this mofo to California one day. Motors in the machine shop now, tranny is already done and waiting. We have been looking for a wagon for along time and when this one came up it was so nice we couldnt pass her up. I 'll be doing a build thread after we get her back home, if you dig wagons look for it. Thanks again David, thats the power of the HAMB right there !!

PS, Im seriously on the lookout for another Van Nuys Pollard license plate frame if anyone wants to trade or sell something similar please look me up. This looks to be a Cali car or at least has spent a good portion of time in Cali. As it were, I need to keep some of that west coast spirit alive in this old girl.

  3. Nice old wagon.I think that was my post about the mice falling out when I fired up the other motor and trans I put in my 1956 buick special station wagon. I took down what was left of the head liner today and the rest of the mouse nests. Tomorrow I am heading off to Knoxville t.n. to pick up a compleat exhaust for it. It will be interesting to see what it sounds like quit. Good luck on your wagon. Bruce.

Thanks fellas, the wife has been asking for a wagon for a looong time now. I've probably looked at a dozen different projects before David found this one, and boy am I'm glad I didn't end up buying some of the other turds I looked at. This one is surprisingly clean, complete and solid. If the guy wouldn't have gone crazy with the rattle can primer the "patina " was perfect, and I'm not even a patina kinda guy. I'll start a build thread after I bring it home. I know you guys will dig what we have planned for the old girl.

[IMG] In case anyone is concerned child labor is legal when it comes to working on old cars. Nice wagon by the way.
But why in the world would a grown man play with wagons?

I've been stuck in machine shop limbo since may now. About to try shop # 3 before the new year, blocks been cleaned and bored, but they lost my stock cam and pistons.... fun times. Did get her home to Tx and unloaded at my Pops house. I'm gonna have to make room in the garage, this boat is wall to wall. Should be hauling her to my house in Dallas in the next couple of weeks. Then its on!

Funny you mention it, just made a deal on a rebuilt super low mileage 327 running and ready to go. Drove a couple hours in the ice to check it out. Made the deal, he's suposed to pull it out of the car this weekend and I'll pick it up. Keep your fingers crossed, this is exactly what we need to get this thing going asap. I'll post more if everything works out.

I am like you, I look for good used motors for most of my project. the motor in my 51 was a fresh rebuild that the guy had planned for a project. runs good, but smokes in idle. think I have a bad valve guide from sitting for several yrs.

Well I brought the 327 home today. I'm impressed, stock 1969 300hp 327, its been rebuilt w roller cam, forged pistons and crank, hei, Edelbrock intake and carb.It sounds great, runs like a top. Not sure what its making now but its gonna move this wagon just fine ! Hope to bring the car home this week and tear into it. I'll start a build thread and put some pics up after it comes home.

Nice find, We love the wagons. Something good about the wife taking the classic to the grocery store or the Nursery. My wife drives her wagon every chance she gets. This latest one we have had only a couple of months, but has served us well so far. Ours had been sitting for 18 years when we found it. Replaced the motor, fuel tank, lines, pump, carb, wheel bearings and tires. and she's back and travel'in.

Well its been awhile but we've done alot. Ended up getting a nice used 327 locally after dealing w machine shop bs for months.Dressed it up a bit w the intake and Vette valve covers off my old motor. Rebuilt all the suspension front & back, lowered it got new tires and scored some nice used Cragars from a friend. New gas tank, rebuilt all the brakes and put in a dual master from a 66 Vette & new brake lines. Installed a new radiator and had the old broken column rebuilt. My brother fabbed up a linkage to make the stock shifter work w the 700r. Installed some proper guages recently and just swapped in a 2500 hughes stall converter last weekend. We've logged plenty of miles on it as is so far & the new converter was really what she needed to be right. Looking forward to taking it to Round up this year. Plan to keep fixing it up and enjoying it at the same time. We plan on full paint & interior eventually. For now im just going to replace the missing trim and live with it so I can focus some energy on my other projects.

I don't like it on cars, your wagon has a great look.
Course, it'll look great in shiney paint too. :)

  24. Northeast cars rarely remain that solid. Damn nice find, good to have friends looking out for ya!
Machine shop limbo is related to paint jail.

Thanks for the positive comments guys. Ive been working on wet sanding on some of these primer spots. I think the PO went a little crazy with the rattle can. I wish he'd just left it alone or fixed it right but for the money I paid, im not complaining to much.
