I think he can move it if he wants, it's his thread.

  2. Moderators can merge threads, we do it on the Jockey Journal all the time.

there haven't been too many recently, but for a while the whole "did you know Ford made a stainless steel 36 five window?" posts were one a week or more.

I have said many times before... unless you were there for the hot rod news and have it all first hand and went straight to the computer to post... chances are someone has already posted it here before you. Search first. Post later.

Just a suggestion: how about a sticky'ed thread at the top of the main page---"Too lazy to search? Here's some common threads we've already seen". Then use that thread to create links to overposted threads.

Or something like that:D It works on another site I belong too, helps keep reposts down.

the problem with that is that the ones that are guilty of what is being discussed here are not going to see the sticky even if were stapled to thier forehead.

what it means is that the moderators will have to keep opening, reading, judging and closing or deleting threads.

    And to clarify again...

I'm not talking about anything that is really Trad Hot Rod or Custom related.

Someone who is working on their On Topic car, and has Questions, or who just wants to show what they are doing.

    That stuff never gets old...:)

I'm only talking about the links to ( news? ) stories, that are for the most part lacking in Value.
    And in Originallity.

( if they had any kind of originality, we wouldn't have to Delete that many Identical ones per day...)

That's very true...but it would make it easier to come down on them for not paying attention...

The links to the overposted stories were what I was talking about. I don't think that every off topic thread should be mentioned there, just those overposted ones.

If the HAMB were divided into sections like ALL other forums it would be easier to read and I think, maybe you old hambers wouldn't ***** so much that you are seeing the same thing again if stuff was easier to find! just beceause you are tired of seeing the same old thing posted over and over doesent mean other people who are basicly new to the hamb know. Most of us have a life other than posting 8325 times on the hamb, I know how it is, I get tired of the same Questions on the mc forum I visit regularly the difference is there are thousands of members here and it's quite a jumble, a little organization would go a long way, there are too many members and too many posts to keep up with whats going on, frankly I'm sick of the hamb beceause of the ****py at***ude of the old timers here, I really thought this was a cool place when I found it, it lost it's appeal to me. I figure that is just what you wanted mr. metalshapes, it's too crowded here so lets run off any newcomers, bash anyone who screws up, and keep it all to ourselves, right?

    Nope...

Sorry you took it that way.

This has nothing to do with Newcomers or Users who have been here for years.

Its about the semi O/T ( or completely O/T ) fluff stories that people find elsewhere on the internet, and then Copy and Paste here.

All at the same time, so we have several of those going at the same time.
( posted by both new and seasoned HAMBers, that have in common that they do not do any searches )

I do agree that this Thread has a bit of a negative vibe to it.

But it has helped a lot, I think there has been a definate drop in those kind of Posts...

    Yes.

    It does help a bit.

Because this will show up in Searches.

So eventhough this Thread pisses some people off, its worth it IMO.

Each item on the list has had many duplicate posts.
( sometimes we leave one undeleted on the Main Board, because that helps with Searches too )
And also, on this entire list there are only a couple of things that are truely On Topic.
